I think we probably have a better chance against EPL sides now than a few years ago.

Players like Sissoko, Amauri, Iaquinta, Chiellini, even Molinaro are much better suited to taking on the power and speed of English football than some of the players were under Capello.
aye but we are very susceptible down teh flanks and teams like manure would exploit that fully. of all the english teams i feel arsenal would give us our best chance of progression

Meh we'd just get Sissoko to kill Ronaldo and Chiellini to keep Shrek quiet, problem solved :D We'd get through to the next round quicker than it takes Maher to say something retarded

Very true.

I'm not saying I would back us to beat an EPl team, just that we are better equipped to do it than before.

that wont happen since barca is top of the group
The next round is Sporting-Barcelona. If Sporting wins, Barcelona will be 2nd and all that will be left for Sporting to confirm the 1st place will be a win against the last placed Basel.
It's a small chance, but it's still possible.

If that happens and we get to draw them I'll have the biggest orgasm.

They'll play Basel home or away?
Away.
Basel lost both home matches till now. 1:2 against Shakhtar and 0:5 against Barcelona.

I know how much you want them, and i'll be sad you won't have your orgasm, but i'd rather avoid them in the 2nd round. :D
Passing the second round brings another 10m, iirc. So i'd rather get Anorthosis in this round and then i'll gladly play Barcelona in the 1/4's.

what are your opinions about zenit game? should we play with full power and the best starting 11 or give a shot to some reserve players and try to do the job against bate at home since zenit is very hard team to beat on their pitch? i think the game could be pretty damaging for our confidence after 8 (heres one for the win against inter :malt: ) consecutive wins and ranieri will have some hard choices indeed..

I know it will be a hard fixture but i believe we should give 100% against Zenit. If we don't beat Zenit then the last round match against BATE will be a must win and i'd rather concentrate fully on serie A in December than forcing our best players to play with 100% and risk injuries against BATE.
Right after Juve-BATE we will play in serie A at home against Milan.

I'm sure Ranieri thinks the same way and he'll field the strongest starting XI against Zenit.

one of legro and chiellini will probably play for italy and both of them will play in 3 days again vs inter. camoranesi also is together with italy squad, im sure he will play against inter and mauro has just returned from injury. whats our strongest starting eleven on tuesday in such situation? i dont think neither legro or chiellini is capable of playing three games in six days in such level..

The team that won 2:0 in Madrid can play in Russia. No need to rest the CBs. Perhaps the only change compared to the Madrid game should be Grygera instead of Mellberg on RB.
In other words, the same team that won 4:1 against Genoa.

Manninger
Grygera-Legro-Chiellini-Molinaro
Marchionni-Sissoko-Tiago-Nedved
Amauri-Del Piero

If you really want to rest one of the CBs then Mellberg will be fine. He won't play for Sweden today, he probably won't play against Inter and he'll be ready and well rested for Zenit.

Barca it least will get a draw against Sporting and win at home against Shakhtar
