i agree with vltako on this one mark, come the 2nd part of the season we will know if sevilla were pretenders or contenders. Barca and madrid have better squads than them, so thats why i dont think they could go all the away and if they beat athletico and valencia in the standings for the CL spot they should be satisfied.

beating real and barca means nothing as the league isnt won by beating those two.
Of course not, I used Real and Barca as a example how strong Sevilla is.

I just can´t see anybody stealing 3rd place from them, Real and Barca could finish above Sevilla JUST because of squad depth, like Vlatko said.

The squad quality doesn´t mean anything to me, in the last seasons Valencia and Deportivo had inferior teams than Barca and Real and they still won the title.

Anyway, you know I´m right, you just don´t want to agree with me on something, I know you in the soul, you dirty bastard.:D :p

I couldnt give a rat care about La Liga, but I do think there is a good chance Real might falter during the late part of the season.

After all, Crapello is famous for his 15 man rotation policy. He sucks every juice out his starters as much as he can, and by March, they are knackered as hell.

May I take the opportunity again

Barcelona 0 - 1 Internacional :lol2:
Jacques,

Man you are two slow. I was longing for you to post that.:D .

I have nothing aginst Barca but this result precisely shows why South-American teams should be considered for CL tournament. I think they can well in it. If Porto, Liverpool, Monaco, Arsenal, Dortmund, Leverkuesen can make CL final, then there is no reason why Santos, Boca, River, Sao Paulo cannot. Especially if one take into consideration extra revenues they are going to generate from this.

There´s a little difference between playing two games on World Club Cup and winning it and playing 13 games in CL + domestic league. ;)

The South-Americans would choke with this number of games.

I am not slow at all, this is the second time I post this, I post one just after the game ended but after that they discussed how Barcelona did not give a toss about the tournament :rofl2: and we all saw how happy the players were, so I took the opportunity to laugh again.

And now that you mentioned it, Barcelona 0 - 1 Internacional :lol2:

Another Barcelona fan who jumps in to defend them

I´m not defending them, I just don´t enjoy their defeats like you, to be honest I´m cold-hearted about Barcelona.

And I´m not a Barcelona fan, if I were I wouldn´t register here...

However, your post shows exactly that you are defending them, read it again in case you forgot what you said.

Well Mark that is the statistical presumption, and to certain extent I agree with you. But if I recall correctly, Europeans have something like 5 game loosing streak with the last teaming winning team being Bayern. One game may be luck. But when you loose 5 on a trot, then one starts to think there may be more in it.

This is not to suggest that South America is better than Europe. Because they arent. Last year Liverpool would have thrashed Sao Paulo had it not been for brilliant Rogerio Ceni in goal for the Brazilians. But my point is I want see how exactly how far the differences are between each respective continent. And my conjecture is, it isnt too far off. A lot closer than the most may think. That is largely due to the fact that South Americans have been producing far more quality youngsters than Europe did in this decade. And if we take into the consideration the extra revenues South Americans might generate if they participate in CL, there is no reason to think their earning capacity is lower than say Anderlect or Lille. I wouldnt be surprised one or two South American teams reaching Quarter stage and even perhaps all the way in a knock-out format.

I say may the all the best teams in the continent play.:)

This post is a definition of Joy.;).

I never seen a person who takes in so much at others expense. Even I do not do that when Arsenal loose. :D

Oh btw, I think Mark was merely pointing out Barca is "better" Internacional.

Wrong, my post shows that I rate European Clubs higher than South American Clubs, including Barcelona.

Again, I am not defending anyone, I´m just not a fan of mocking other teams.

Do you like when some creep is mocking Juventus? I don´t think so...

(FIFA CWC) Cruyff: "The Surprise Would Have Been A Barça Win"
The ex-FC Barcelona player and Coach gave his own inimitable opinion of the Blaugranas defeat to Internacional in the CWC final in his column in Catalunya broadsheet 'La Vanguardia'. The retired legend also added that, as far as he was concerned, the CWC was a competition made for South American clubs to win.

It’s a competition made with the express purpose of giving South American teams the edge”, he argued. “The time difference and the long voyage mean that the European teams arrive feeling stunned and that gives the South American team, that’s been in Japan for longer and doesn’t have as long a journey, the advantage. To get things back on an even keel the old system of a home and away leg would be far better.”

"Barça wasn’t inferior as they shot more times at goal and had most of the possession, but they lacked that vital spark that they’ve been showing on the pitch at other times and in other circumstances: that speed they give to the ball”, Cruyff continued. “Without that Barcelona loses that vital centimetre in control, in preparing a shot in robbing a ball.”

Cruyff finished off by balancing the pros and cons of the CWC experience. “The whole squad showed that they weren’t just turning up to go through the motions: they really wanted to win the CWC and want to win the other two trophies still in play in Europe, but the negative side is the overload of games as between the 7th and the 31st of January Barça will have to play no less than eight games in 24 days.
