sooner or later they will start going down. they will still finish in the top 5 most likely, which was probably their realistic objective for this season. real and barca are just too big and too strong to be edged out by anyone. it's still early in the season and sevilla has the momentum now but few more months in the season, injuries and exhaustion will come, squad depth will prove vital.

Sevilla have a very good chance of taking the liga , in fact i will be happy for them if barca did not take it , the important thing that real madrid dont win it.
the guys who think that sevilla will not continue like that are wrong , they are a strong side

no i am not, it's not the first time a team like sevila is topping the table in the first part of the season. it all comes together at the second part of the season.

It´s the opposite way, Valencia will drop down cause they are doing too good now... :p

BTW Sevilla is not a typical case of previous seasons, FFS they owned Barcelona and Real Madrid.

so? take palermo for example, this season they beat lazio, fiorentina and milan all away, and those are some of the hardest away games in the season. look at them now, everything just started going down hill for them. and they too had a really impressive start to the season. i see the same thing happening to sevilla, both them and palermo will finish in the top 5 probably, but they have no chance of the title.

Sevilla is much stronger than Palermo and the two biggest teams, Roma and Inter, beat them while Sevilla beat the two biggest, Real and Barcelona.

So, your comparison doesn´t exactly hold the water. :p

EDIT: As I see, Sevila didn´t start dropping yet like Palermo...

if this was a regualar serie a season, your statement wouldn't hold it either. if handicaps weren't here both milan and fiorentina would be "bigger" than inter and roma respectively.

like i said sevilla still have the momentum, so did palermo not 5 games ago. i'm pretty sure they won't be able to hold it for much longer, they lack squad depth, something which is probably the most important in winning a championship. barca and real have both squad depth and overall much better quality than sevilla.

btw, barca beat sevilla this season. please tell me you weren't refering to the super cup match? that's before the season even started.

FC Barcelona will be without Gianluca Zambrotta for four weeks after the defender pulled a muscle in his left calf during the FIFA Club World Cup final.

Calf injury
The 29-year-old was withdrawn at half-time during the game against SC Internacional de Porto Alegre, which the Brazilian side won 1-0, and is expected to undergo further tests once he returns to Spain. Medical staff estimate that the Italian will need at least a month to recover.

Excuse moui, but Milan, Fiorentina and Lazio would be behind Palermo even without points penalty.

Sevilla beat Barcelona in a competitive match - I don´t care when it was, and they beat Real Madrid 2 weeks ago.

I´m not saying they will neccesarily win Primera, but they will finish in the first three for sure, don´t forget that Barca and Real are still playing CL.

not a chance, i'm not talking about the mathematics here. i'm talking about the performance of these teams and how very much different it could have been were they not crippled by the points penalty. the negative morale boost that cause on the whole team can't be compensated so easily. i didn't say anything about lazio, palermo and them would have been on par, milan and fiorentina would have been ahead in normal circumstances.

i'm not saying they didn't, but in the championship they lost. we are talking about the championship aren't we?

well i'm saying they will finish in the top 5 but that they will be behind both barca and real, will that be 3rd, 4th or 5th i won't predict. but a chance of the title they don't have.

Exactly the opposite way, without points penalty, Milan, Lazio and Fiorentina wouldn´t be on pressure to win every game to achieve their goal and they would maybe even have worse record than this - just like Juve - when we had 17 points penalty Juve was playing like crazy, winning every game and now that our penalty was reduced DD said that we will slow down a bit.

I don´t care if Sevilla beat Barca in Primera or Intertoto Cup - they thrashed them in a competitive match and yes, then they have lost too.

I´m trying to say that they won´t finish below 3rd place and have even a chance to surprise Barca or Real to win the 2nd place.

that's silly imo. juventus is in serie b after all, points penalty or not they whould have to fight like crazy to get abck in serie b. but true, the points penalty gave some extra motivation. but milan's -8 in serie a is like 16 in serie b. that's a huge handicap, not to mention fiorentina's -15. can you imagine the disapointment of the team, especially fiorentina's who had a cl spot lost as well, when they see what they have to compensate? and when they remember the terific season they had last season taken away from them? it's a huge blow and it surely has a lot to do with their performance this season.

i don't care either but we were talking about the la liga and they lost in la liga to barca.

i know what you're saying and what you said with your first post on this matter. i think they could finish below third place very easily, but the chance of a "surprise" in front of barca or real i just don't see happening, 3rd to 5th is their realistic position.

i agree with vltako on this one mark, come the 2nd part of the season we will know if sevilla were pretenders or contenders. Barca and madrid have better squads than them, so thats why i dont think they could go all the away and if they beat athletico and valencia in the standings for the CL spot they should be satisfied.

beating real and barca means nothing as the league isnt won by beating those two.
