i watched about 20 minutes from the second half and barca seemed to be crushing them, they had a lot of chances. too bad los ches couldn't hold onto the lead.

Also I'm surprised David Villa didn't attract more attention this summer. I thought he looked equal to Torres at the World Cup and his goalscoring record the past two seasons has been pretty good.

When Atletico play Barca they will have problems again. It's going to be interesting as Valencia, Sevilla and Athletico continue being problematic for Barca. Let's see if those teams (Valencia especially) can keep up the consistency - then we will have a title race and perhaps a first deserved La Liga title for Barcelona?

Eto'o suffers knee injury in Barcelona's draw with Werder

BREMEN, Germany (Reuters) - Samuel Eto'o suffered a potentially serious injury to his right knee in Barcelona's 1-1 draw with Werder Bremen in the Champions League on Wednesday.

"Sadly enough it seems Eto'o has an injury to his knee and it could be a meniscus problem," coach Frank Rijkaard told a news conference.

"We'll have to do some tests and see what the medical staff say."

Spanish media quoted a Barcelona team doctor as saying Eto'o could be out for between two and three months.

The Cameroon striker was forced off in the 65th minute of the Group A game.

Barcelona, the European champions, fell behind to a Carles Puyol own goal in the 56th minute and needed a Lionel Messi strike in the 89th minute to snatch a point.

In my opinion Gudjohnsen was one of the worst signings of the summer. How little Rijkaard has used him is not surprising. As for Saviola it is clear Barca did not want him to stay. Eto'o is probably their most important player as they have no direct replacement. Last year Larsson was that - if even more direct a striker.

Rijkaard's solution will be Ronaldinho in the centre with Messi moved out to the left and in-form Guily coming into the team. Gudjohnsen and Saviola will get their opportunities from the bench.

This is great news for La Liga and Valencia, Sevilla and Real. We should definitely get an interesting title race now.

eto in terms of pure skill wont be a big loss.he's a very average striker who misses a lot more than he scores.however,he functions well within the barcelona attack and that would be a loss to rijkard.

Gudjohnsen is a very good replacement to Larsen and he is even younger

A loss for the world of football... Eto'o was Barcelona's best player last season and definately one of my favourite players.

Agreed.

The only positive thing about Eto'o's injury is the increase of playing time for Messi who will continue to become stronger and stronger as the season progresses.

However, I still consider Barca favourites to win the title again.

Bilbao had the lead and were playing much better than Barca.But the ref in spain has to ruin everything.

but m_elyaan has a point, i think its promising that both strikers scored.

I don't think it would have matter. Pretty much always look like that when a crap team gets an early goal vs Barca. They run like hell just trying to hold on to those 3 pins. As the game is starting to come to the end, they can barely stand on their legs. I bet they score more goals from the 80-90+ minute then the 45-80.
