Not sure what to think about this kid.
On the one hand, he was one of the main reasons for our chaotic display in the first half. He struggled tactically, was way too slow, and he didn't protect the defense well in the sense that he was leaving a huge gap between the midfield and defense. Once Loca replaced him, we became a different and much better organized team.
On the other hand, I absolutely loved his tackles and interceptions. Noone else in this team does this as well as Barrenechea.
Same feeling I got. His on the ball actions were good. Off the ball he didn't follow the game well enough and lacked the kind of vision that helps organize the team better.

Am I allowed to be more excited about this guy than Fagioli, Miretti, Iling or Soule?

His decision making is superb. He knows where the ball needs to go before he calls for the pass. Always one step ahead. He's a bit slow, but he doesn't need to be rapid in his role. Over time his passing will only improve. His work rate and graft look really good and jesus Christ the thing that stands out most to me is just how calm and collected he is.

I don't wanna use the P word but he does remind me a lot of the big man in key ways. Very very exciting. Just play him, Allegri for gods sake.

He was completely dominated and owned by Djuricic for Samp's first goal, and he was nowhere to be seen to offer defensive protection for Samp's second.
Rightfully replaced after only 45 minutes.
Too bad, because @DanielSz would have made a lovely video of all his passes in the second half too.

He was poor but The Fag was fantastic. Miretti was good. And Soule was excellent when he came on. 3 of 4 young players doing well. Makes your blood boil, my dear friend, doesn’t it.

A lot of players at fault on both goals against Sampdoria. He did some things poorly, as expected from someone with his experience. He should have dropped deeper to accompany the retired defender behind him, agreed. To be fair though, he shouldn't have to drop so deep. With a decent defense behind him they should be able to stand higher. A few times he followed Djuric up high to press down their one and only playmaker. The rest of the team should then follow. But Bonucci knows he can't venture that far from his goal. If we would have a decent press setup that should also work against a team like this. EPL fans may yell for that overrated Spurs player all they want but this Doria only have Djuric. Put him down and they have nothing else but throwing it down the flanks and hope for the best. They did so... and since our pressing game is based on "if they get the ball, get close" and not "get up close", and since the team fell asleep, we conceded.

And we should have conceded more when Bonucci thought he was Messi a few times and Bremer thought he suddenly had the technique of a football player. Whoever we put on, the aim of Allegri is to minimize their brainfarts by sitting deep and hoping for the best. We've improved a lot since June but the essence of the team is the same.

Allegri deserves a lot of credit. He has been handed a really misaligned squad. It does, however, suit him because as I've written before. He is a good tactician, good in building squads and getting the most out of it. So don't get me wrong there. I just don't like his (lack of) philosophy and don't think he is the right person to develop the kids.

I hope Enzo gets more minutes and sent on loan next year. Let him go on a dry loan though. Unless we manage to ship away these CMs we collected for some reason.

does he? because he got caught out multiple times yesterday, starting with the first chance Sampdoria had with Gabbiadini. We cant play anything but a low block with him.
Which then speaks volumes of him. I was surprised how often he got caught doing those reckless things only a 16 year old would try.

This guy was total crap in this cameo. But we needed a defender not a playmaker in that position. Weird sub. At least he got some continental minutes.

Do better next time pls Enzo.

The last goal started with him winning his aerial duel to regain possession. He just lost the ball a couple times. Hard to judge these young guys when they come on as subs as opposed to starting.

I have the highest of hopes for him. He has looked extremely composed when he's started, and the areas I wish he was better at (passing, pace) can be improved or adapted around.

But twice yesterday I remember he lost the ball in a really compromising position. It wasn't an ideal situation to stick him into as you imply and as I said before, I'm just saying he wasn't good in this short appearance. It's not a big deal
