Have they even been linked with any CMs?

Stuff can still happen, but most of the time it's a move that has been rumoured coming to fruition, rather than someone completely out of the blue.
not sure, haven't been keeping up to date on the mercato lately ... but assume they would plan to get someone considering how obvious their issues are at CM/DM.

I would have thought there was a sporting chance of them signing Rodwell, but that ship has sailed.

Right now, I don't anticipate Man Utd making another significant signing.

I would keep and eye on them signing someone like Strootman or Paulinho (may have issues with working visa, not sure) as they are young, very good players with great prospect at big time improvement in the future, yet won't be anywhere near as expensive as even worse players in the EPL would be.

De Jong is also a proper CM who could become available pretty soon on the cheap but doubt City would sell to a direct opponent, especially their neighbors.

Unbalanced? They have 2 players on each position except LB, are you kiddin' me?
Their midfield is weak and their defense suspect. All the offensive talents they have won't change that.

A repeat of the Bilbao games will happen every time they will face a good team.

They've spent their budget of 50 million now, and haven't sold one player. They'll sign Baines at best, no CM now.
there are good players available out there, for relatively cheap ... as long as ManU think they need to reinforce the CM, that is (which should be plenty obvious, imo)

Even signing Baines will be tougher now that Everton have sold Rodwell.

Where do you see him going?

Inter would probably make most sense, but they probably can't afford his wages.

Can't think who else would go for him.

Bayern, maybe?

I am hoping Milan, capitalizing on that Mino connection :D ... his salary isn't prohibitively big as it is now, iirc, and with the prospect of a longer contract, may well be lowered.
I can see him go to Italy or Bayern but that would be conditional on City landing De Rossi, which won't be easy even if Roma would be smart to get 30+ mil City is rumoured to be offering and get someone like Paulinho, for example.

I like De Jong though, he is a very, very good player imo and don't think City would be necessarily improving on him w/ De Rossi, especially considering the heafty price they will have to pay in the process.

They will finish in top2 in EPL, wanna bet??
That's not exactly a bold bet.

The mere fact that you think that's something worth betting on indicates that Man Utd have not moved well so far this summer.

Man United will finish in top 2 and definitely they will play in CL playoff, how easily people are underrating them LOL
I'm not saying Man Utd are a bad team.

However, they ought to be right up with the very best teams.

Being in the top two in the EPL is not an achievement for them, nor is getting through the groups of the CL.

Anything less than winning the EPL and reaching the semi-finals of the CL will be considered to be a failure by them.

Do you see them winning the EPL?

Do you see them going far in the CL (unless they get a very easy draw)?

I'd expect them to finish second in the league and be knocked out of the CL as soon as they play against any half decent side (probably in the quarter final).

of course i can't, stop talkin like an alien, speak damn english
:D

CL playoff is what the 4th CL qualifying round is called these days i.e. for ManU to play it, they would have to finish 4th in the EPL, hence what I said above ;)

P.S. just for the record, I know what you meant earlier, so no need to clarify it ... was just messing with you :)

As it stands United are slight favourites for the Championship. They've added quality and depth.

City will lose their best midfielder in January for two months their form stuttered last year around January because of this and if Kompany is injured they're also in a mess.

However I expect City to announce a few more signings, I think they'll get Agger and another midfielder.
