Quite meh game. Good defensive wall by Stoke pretty much all game (except the two clumsy pk giveaways). Mainly Malouda and some Cole's runs mainly the danger for Chelsea, but otherwise, even if Chelsea had like 8 players hovering around Stoke's box most of the time, Stoke defended really well, with 10 men wal/parking the bus routine all the time. They dealt with Chelsea's crosses fairly easily.

Chelsea in general were too static offensively, except as I said Malouda mainly (besides the goal, fouled for Lampards pk), who scored after Terry breakthrough run suprising the Stoke defence, and assisting an excellent Malouda run. But other then that, Chelsea mainly too static to deal with Stoke's defence (passing around all game long and finding little space), as they done with the other teams they usually pummel. But yeah Stoke as usual bad away, offensively, mainly just tried the set pieces, and at times were close at 1-1 with them, but mainly with just one great shot from one of their midfielders as their only real chance.

Sounds like the typical match against Stoke. Whatever you say about them, they're always a hard team to play against. Chelsea are effective as hell, they can win games like these, but i always doubt our capability to beat those thugs.

IMO that's what has kept them in PL, not every team can grind a result against them.

I'm hoping Berbatov starts missing sitters all over again like last season.

Ya they don't usually get results away from home against the big clubs, but at home, the fluke throw ins, and mix ups in the box are the only way they get results. Disgusting team that is a disgrace to football, heres hoping they get relegated this season :xfinger:

Yeah very boring to watch (except Fuller) and very conservative and effective team. And obviously especially when they are at home. Because they SUCK away, they were a bonafide typical midtable team last season, but they were the worst in the whole league in away games. Thats says alot about their home record.


Btw, Ben Arfa loaned to Newcastle. Will be weird to see him there.

Ya I liked Fuller back when he was at Pompey with Lua Lua and Yakubu when they were under 'Arry, they were a decent team to watch at the time.

Wasnt as dominant as he is with Stoke though (was a flop if I recall), in the eye gouging hoof ball shenanigans of Stoke, its nice to see him at times take down defences quite expertly like a footballer should.

He wasn't really a flop, but he wasn't good enough to start for them. Lua Lua and Yakubu not leaving much space for anyone else. But he was always fun to watch whenever played, used to be quite a good link up player and a decent dribbler too.

He's by far Stoke's best dribbler now , i didn't remember that i hate Robert Huth a lot.

Man Utd - West Ham was dull, Man Utd didn't even play well in the final third and still won 3-0, wasted moves from Nani and a couple of others, but they could still afford to make wholesale subs against a dire Spammers team who were just jogging around for most of the second half, damage limitation. Man Utd even gave them the ball from defence three times in a row and they couldn't even muster an attack, crap. Cole looked half decent with little support, some nice dribbles from Dyer before he inevitably went off and a couple of decent touches from Barrera when he came on.
