Rooney is in the top 5 offensive players on the planet as far as I am concerned. Along with Messi, Aguero, Ronaldo, Torres. His creativity and flair are both phenomenal for an gritty englishman. Very rare to see such talent in british blood...By far the most technically gifted brit I have ever seen. Its a siblime mix of extreme determination, a serious passion for playing and winning, and world class talent. As with the others on my top 5 list, ANY team would be glad to have him...Nothing to do with hype. My opinion is based on watching him play quite regularly since he was a teenager for the toffees...
I was defending Rooney earlier in this thread, but now you're taking it way too far.

Rooney is nowhere near being the top 5 offensive players. Zlatan for one is definitely a much better player than Rooney is, he is so technically superior its not even a contest.

The most talented Brit?

I wouldn't think so, players like Gascoine, Joe Cole and Ryan Giggs while they might not be better players(the exception of Giggs) are technically superior to Rooney, and thats only out of the Brits i've seen playing.

You are seriously overrating Rooney here.

If i want to watch pretty football i watch Chelsea. Id love Tott and the Villains fuck up the top 5 this year, if all stays the same liverpool will be in dire straights at the end of the season.
:wth:

Fred, report please.

Who said i watched the game??

Bah, who am i kidding :p

Well yesterday, surprisingly Kranjcar despite being in top form was dropped for Luka. Luka was played on the left of a 4-4-2. He was obviously rusty as he didn't influence the game much. Despite scoring the opening goal he went absent for large periods in the game. He did make a few nice touches here and there though, but overall it wasn't the best of games by him.

Kranjcar was subbed in for Modric in the last 7 minutes in the game and boy did he make an impact. Two minutes after he entered the pitch he almost scored a brilliant goal, he intercepted the ball in midfield, went past two players and unleashed a strong shot that was just saved by Robert Green.

What you could read in our newspapers: Luka scored in Tottenham victory, Luka carries Spurs to triumph, etc. They all praised him and said it was a great game after such a long layoff. They also wrote he led the counter for Defoe's goal, even though it was a 98% solo effort. Biased bastards. But that's why I have you. :p

Damn, I was afraid of this, I really hope Harry gives them a proper chance together. If they can work in the NT, they can work in Spurs. Shame for Niko to lose momentum because of tactics.

Well in all fairness to the Croat media and to Luka himself, judging by the circumstances it was a fairly good performance and a positive contribution for someone who's been back after a lengthy layoff period.

Indeed, this could be very bad for Kranjcar, very unfair to him. He has been playing some very good football lately, he really should not be dropped. But Redknapp will not change tactics that have seen him achieve some very good results, so one of Luka or Kranjcar will have to pay the price for that.

mcmanaman you filthy fucker...long time no see my scouse brother...Rooney has flair, like those guys, but adopts a more direct and bullish approach to the game more often than beautiful, but he is very capable of a similar beauty to those goons. His passing and shooting can be as delicate as the caress of a butterfly's nose or as deliberate and forceful as Gun Jack's russian cossak dance in Tekken.

Ibra lacks the determination, the shooting, and passion for the game which rooney has in spades. he also lacks the class...

gazza shone in an era when NO OTHER BRITS HAD ANY FLAIR whatsoever. i saw him play, of course, but he was nowhere near Rooney's talent levels. also, he was an idiot...

I like Defoe. He has pace, quick feet and explosive shooting...
Are you fucking kidding me? How can he lack determination and passion when he's won the league every year the last 7 years as the star of the team? And how the hell can you say that he can't shoot? He has one of the best shots out there. Just ask any goalkeeper who's played with him. In Sweden's NT the GK's have never seen anybody shot as good and hard as him.

If you have a hard time remembering him shooting then here you go:

Zlatan vs Palermo x2

Zlatan vs Zaragoza

Zlatan vs CSKA Moscow

 He can't shoot my ass..

Stop saying that! Neither will get dropped. :p

Maybe Har wanted to give Niko a rest and at the same time build up Luka's fitness. I'm praying they get a shot together. If they stay fit, Tottenham will be even more dangerous than they already are. Hope Harry doesn't disappoint me.

U pičku materinu!

He really drilled the keeper and the net a new one. Didn't see that goal before.

I never said he couldnt shoot. Thats a massive jump from what I wrote. A completely different statement altogether. I see his passion and determination, more solely for Ibra, whereas Rooney's passion and drive seem more raw, less refined, less egotistical, his competitive edge is not just about ROONEY, its about winning a war on the field. The swede is a massively talented player, but far from likable. He appears all too often, to my eyes, a human snake serpent goblin creature, who is evil in some way, not through his own volition, perhaps, but through his blood. Rooney, on the other hand, is very simple. A human troll, with a sense of Right and Wrong. He is more like a child, a beast who should be caged other than for game time...

But try reading what I wrote before, and accepting that not at any point did i write that ibra cant shoot. You are attacking a phantom statement, of your own creation, not mine...

to suggest that Joe cole is technically superior to wayne rooney, makes ANY of your other views, diluted by the massive error of judgement involved in such a war cry...How much of Rooney, and Cole, have you seen over the last 5 years???? If you asked ANY english manager who they would want, Rooney or Cole? none would say Cole. ANcelotti would swap them in a flash...Giggs isn't english. Gazza doesnt compete. I would say someone like matt le tissier equaled or bettered Gazza's technique and talent...

@the stoned junkie, i didn't say Joe Cole was a better player than Rooney. Of course he's not, and of course Ancelotti would swap them in a blink of an eye, thats not what i said at all. I said he was more technically gifted, which is true.

Giggs is Welsh.
