Rooney isn't world class. I never said any of that regarding Chelsea or our starting 11. But you're just a Prem propagandist.

And worst of all you waste folks time here because you can't be reasoned with.

That's all I have to say to you. I suggest to others to put this clown on your ignore list.
If he is not world class he wouldn't be in the world's top 10 nominees would he? There are only 3 more strikers in the list.

I can't be reasoned with? Lets review what we both said.
You guys said a striker is worth his goal tally. Since Rooney doesn't score much (in the previous years) therefore he is not a world class striker.

I said, a striker is much more than his goal tally. His effort, work ethic, vision, passing, dribbling, pace, strength, etc... are all aspects of his game. I also gave the example of cassano being better than pazzini. DP better than Trezgol. Rooney better than Berbatov (last season). etc.
Rooney did not score much in the past few seasons because his task was to help & serve Ronaldo. (Ronaldo scored for the whole team).
Their partnership has been brilliant over the years and has taken ManU to 2 CL finals. This has been noticed by all football experts and thats why Rooney is called Worldclass by FIFA, by French Magazine, By the PFA, by UEFA, By fans of the EPL.

This year, Ronaldo is gone and Rooney's job has become to score goals as well as participate in making UTD less reliant on one player like before. This is working well as they are now 2nd in the League. Rooney is their top scorer and has scored 10 goals in 13 matches (which is more than a great rate of goal to appearances)

Thus, Rooney's goal scoring abilities are very good which has been proved this year when ronaldo left the team.
Even before this year, football entities and coaches have always regarded him as a great player on both club and national level. This year they will admire him even more.

and so if you think a striker is worth his goal tally as well as everything he contributes to the team, you should regard rooney as world class.
If you think a striker is worth his Goal tally ONLY, then this year rooney has been proving that he is world class with 10 goals in 13 games.

If I am not being reasonable then please tell me why.

I know you don't like me very much .. ..
I don't want to have any problems with you and i think this post has everything i have to say about the matter...
I think i am being very reasonable and i am trying to have a descent conversation with you about it.

If there is a mistake in my reasoning then please point me to it.

lol rooney world class, rooney is a 7/10 player with a bias english nationality. He was lucky to be playing for ronaldo's man utd. Now that man utd will no longer be considered the best team in europe you'll see him drop out of these european/world player of the year lists in the near future.

It's a travesty that Torres didn't make the top ten, and Rooney did. He's clearly the worst player out of the shortlist for the award, without a doubt. It's a crime, quite frankly. Messi, Iniesta, Ibra, Xavi, Gerrard, Drogba, Ronaldo, Kaka, and Eto'o are all miles ahead of Rooney in terms of ability, and are indeed world class. Rooney is not on the level of the aforementioned names on that list, and also the likes of Torres and Cesc, two individuals who were far and away the better players than Rooney last season -- and always. It is a fucking crime.

But of course, the hype wins out.

World class. :rolleyes2

Oh, and where the fuck is David Villa? He had tons of goals in La Liga last year and won the Euros, but he's not anywhere near the top ten for the Ballon?

What a joke. But at least it's pretty unlikely Rooney will get into the top three.

Messi, Ronaldo and Drogba should be top.

Rooney is a top class striker. World Class depends on one's definition of it's meaning.
To claim he is all hype is absurd, but then again he is not the best thing since sliced bread.

I'd swop Amauri, Iq for him.

Please don't discredit the holy joly EPL and its saint like players. The kick & run is league has similar economics to Dubai and is going to crash one day and go back to where it belong and used to be. Eventhough these ignorents claim they have better league, but I would still rather watching Italian midtable teams like lazio/sampdoria/napoli/genoa over the the english top 4.

What an utterly shambolic performance by our boys, the performance today was nothing short of scandalous.

I cannot credit any player after the game, they were all poor. Gallas and Sagna were at fault for the first, Vermaelen made an amateurs mistake for the second and Almunia proved yet again what an average shot stopper he is with the third.

Fabregas couldn't pull the strings in midfield and was overrun and outplayed by Essien and Lampard, Denilson was his usual shambolic self, i'm gutted to see him back from injury, we were all comfortable with him missing.

Arshavin looked like he didn't even bother, its not the first time mind you, his attitude has been poor this season, almost like he doesn't want to be there. If i was Wenger i'd fine him for his lack of effort.

Nasri has just been so inconsistent ever since he moved to us, and it looks like that isn't changing anytime soon.

Eduardo, well i predicted it before the game anyway. Didn't expect much from him. But still his absolutely horrible performance today surprised me, i mean he was really poor against Sunderland last week, but today's game was just another level. I just can't believe this is the same Eduardo that played for us before the injury. I mean his off the ball movement and his first touch made Niklas look like feckin Maradona today.

Embarrassing stuff really.

Pardon, but what the f did Gerrard do to be a "favorite"?
He was real good last season actually. Along with X.Alonso was the main protagonist for Liverpool almost winning the league last season. I'd say he deserves to be in the top 10, unlike Rooney.

Rooney despite being a very good player and a capable second striker, he still isn't nowhere near deserving of the top 10. Players like Villa, Eto'o and Torres are definitely more deserving of being in that list.

This is for 2009, right?

I don't remember well right now, but I think that Gerrard had a great first half of last season (the second half of the year 2008) and in 2009 he was far from great.

On the contrary, Gerrard was really good in the second half of last season. I think he wasn't fully fit in the start of the year(or maybe the end of last year), but ever since he got fit again he played some great games. The games against Real, Man Utd and Newcastle in particular come to mind.

Gerrard scored 24 goals last year in all competitions, 16 in the league and 7 in Europe. One in the FA Cup.

This season he has 4 goals. All in the league.

He had groin surgery and missed 3 or 4 weeks at the beginning of last season, but Xabi Alonso was able to sail the ship in his absence.
