Dude, even Liverpool's defense has been poor this season. I'm sorry but there is no doubt the midtable Serie A sides are more adept at defending than the counterparts in England.

Do you watch the Liga much Andy?

Midtable English sides defend just as good as their Italian counterparts btw, i watch both leagues and i see no difference in quality between the Genoa's, Sampdoria's and Udinese's and between the Fulham's, Aston Villa's and Evertons.

The lower table sides in England do tend to have average defenses though, as they tend to rely more on strength and physicality.
Italian football isn't as defensive or as defensively strong as it used to be, but I think Serie A teams are probably still slightly better than their English counterparts.

The gap is not a significant one, though.

Liverpool have indeed been poor defensively this season. But so have Milan and Roma's.

I can accept that, although teams like Fulham last season would give Serie A teams a run for their money. Fulham were extremely good defensively last season. I'd imagine Andy would've known that if he really did watch Fulham

Fulham's defence was great last season, but they have a coach with something of an Italian mentality, though. :p

A good team should sign Hangeland.

Yup.

Their whole team was an organised defensive unit, unlike a lot of lower EPL teams, who organise the defence but just expect the midfield to press the game rather than keep a solid shape.

From the top of my head, yes they did. I think they were together at Feyenoord for 1 season, then Van Persie left for Arsenal.
Ah ok.
What?

Van Persie is ten times the player Eduardo is, the two aren't even close.
You can say that Fred, but at the end of the day I'd rather have Eduardo on the pitch rather than building a horse placenta farm just for Van Persie outside the Emirates.

Van Persie is a splendid player, he really hasn't had the chance to show his true worth due to injuries.

I like Eduardo very much, and i think he's a good player, most of you know what i think of him, but he's got a long way to go before he can be compared to Van Persie.

The latter is definitely the more talented player.
True...
Yea, too bad Van Persie is injury prone, otherwise he'd be one of best players regularly.
Too bad...
Word is that he will be the coach of the 'British' Olympic team in 2012.
I wouldn't be surprised his contract expires with Fulham at the end of the season

OK, so if the Prem's defenses are just as good as Italy's, is there anything about Serie A that's better than the EPL?

And I watch Fulham, no need for snide, clueless remarks about me.

Can't wait for Luka to get back, fucking thug Bowyer really crippled him and he had an amazing start to the season.

Glad to see Kranjcar settling in as well, played a huge match yesterday.

Anyone have some quality highlights, I wanna watch the goals again.
