He's very fast and a gifted finisher, but I don't know about that. Owen was better than him before injuries took his pace. Rooney's more rounded (though he'll never be as prolific). There's a reason Defoe's never really nailed down an place in the England team.

:howler: fuck him then...by the way Fred, who was the number 2 for Algeria? he's a CB, bald guy...was exceptional in the matches vs. Egypt
Madjid Bougherra, Rangers defender, you can ask Red about him he probably sees a lot of him at the club level. As for on the NT level, he has been one of Algeria's top performers in the past qualifiers, and has always been one of the toughest Arab defenders out there.

You were always wrong, Rooney is much more talented and a better all round player.

He even scored a great goal against Stuttgart :agree:

Joke EPL defending as usual.
Someone else used the result earlier in the thread to argue that weaker EPL teams aren't even Serie B standard. Frankly, I think the idea that a result which hasn't been matched since the mid nineties is indicative of the standard of any league is laughable.

Someone else in the Serie A thread used the one 0-0 draw this weekend to sarcastically declare Serie A as boring. Why are the decisive, reasonably high scoring games in Italy this weekend proof that Serie A is exciting, but the freak high scoring game in England proves that EPL defending is a joke?

It's all nonsense. This league snobbery really gets my goat.

Because that's what the EPL supporters keep saying about Serie A as being boring for the lack of goals and having a 10-men defense and the dumb approach to the game.
And allow me to explain this with an example; today while i was watching Al-Jazeera +3 where they had an English studio for the Juve game and all of those "tactical geniuses" there agreed that the Italian approach to the game is different than the English one, as in Italy (them speaking) they go to the game so as not to lose while in England players go to the game to achieve a win.
What is more, they even debated about the fans as they said that cheering the players after a 1-0 scoreline which was the case today is an outrage which would never happen in England for the supporters of any of the so called Big Four.

And all of this is pure BS IMO.

Well, because IMO, it is a joke. I watch the teams with Americans on them all the time, and their defenses are jokes. Sorry but that's just the case.

Do you watch the Liga much Andy?

Midtable English sides defend just as good as their Italian counterparts btw, i watch both leagues and i see no difference in quality between the Genoa's, Sampdoria's and Udinese's and between the Fulham's, Aston Villa's and Evertons.

The lower table sides in England do tend to have average defenses though, as they tend to rely more on strength and physicality.
