Indeed. But hey, the majority of Pool fans thought they could win the league without him. I guess they know best, right?
Of course.

Gerrard then goes deep to get the ball and leaves Torres completely isolated.

Wonderful.

the first should have been, he was shoved down, prevented him from getting the ball.
I thought that: 1) It was shoulder to shoulder and 2) Voronin had already lost control of the ball.

And let's face it, it has to be a really clear penalty before you will get more than on penalty in a game.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised to see Pool out of the top four this season. Either that or they win the league somehow. What I'd do is buy an options strangle in the derivatives market that gives a payout for huge movements in price and expectations, which would be Pool winning the league or finishing 5th. It's really a make or break season for them, and after watching this match, I don't really think they have what it takes.

Benitez should be on his way after this season though. The people that thought this guy was better than Mourinho should probably take back their words, because he's not. He doesn't make wise decisions all the time.

You're being a bit harsh on Liverpool/Benitez here, though I agree they won't win the league.

It's their first game and they lost a key player not long before it. The replacement isn't fit yet.

And let's not forget that Spurs played very well. The way they played today, especially in the first half, they probably wouldn't have lost to anyone in the league.

Harsh or not, it's my view that Liverpool won't do as well this season.

I truly don't think their squad can compete for the title.
If they are lucky with injuries, they can compete for it, but I don't see them winning the league.

Just for a change, they have a better chance of doing something in Europe.

There is a clear difference between saying this (though they will compete), and saying they will miss on top 4, which is ridicolous.
It might seem ridiculous now, but there is a chance of it.

I just don't see them having a very good season.

But I predict that Liverpool will finish 5th. We'll see what happens.

That is if he ever gets a chance to get off the treatment table :seven:
Obviously, that is a very big 'if' and one which will have a significant impact on Liverpool's season.

If Man City were to break into the top four this season, who would you guys pick to fall out of it?

I've already stated my reasons for Pool. I'm sure most would claim Arsenal would be the best bet, but I think they have too much youth and talent for that to happen, although certainly possible.

I'm a contrarian when it comes to investing in equities and the same applies for this discussion.

I don't think Man City will make the top four.

Too soon to really judge between Arsenal and Liverpool as to who would drop out if Man City did make the top four.
