What I'd do is buy an options strangle in the derivatives market that gives a payout for huge movements in price and expectations, which would be Pool winning the league or finishing 5th. It's really a make or break season for them, and after watching this match, I don't really think they have what it takes.

Benitez should be on his way after this season though. The people that thought this guy was better than Mourinho should probably take back their words, because he's not. He doesn't make wise decisions all the time.

You're being a bit harsh on Liverpool/Benitez here, though I agree they won't win the league.

It's their first game and they lost a key player not long before it. The replacement isn't fit yet.

And let's not forget that Spurs played very well. The way they played today, especially in the first half, they probably wouldn't have lost to anyone in the league.

Obviously, that is a very big 'if' and one which will have a significant impact on Liverpool's season.

I've already stated my reasons for Pool. I'm sure most would claim Arsenal would be the best bet, but I think they have too much youth and talent for that to happen, although certainly possible.

I'm a contrarian when it comes to investing in equities and the same applies for this discussion.
