Madrid are looking at Defour if they can't get Xabi, we are looking for Defour as a replacement for Xabi. At the end of the week, whichever team doesn't have Xabi will be "pursuing" Defour.

As for my opinions on the move, I haven't seen much of him. I'd be in favor of it if it was for a reasonable price. It probably won't be so I'd rather us sign Hamsik or Cattermole.

The Belgian press has been all over a possible move for Defour to Madrid. Liverpool has only been mentioned once so far, so has Milan.
Yesterday the Standard board said something along the lines of: "Defour is unsellable, but not untransferable". I know, it doesn't make any sense.
Anyway, general consensus is that he'll leave if Standard receives a reasonable offer.

I have seen a lot of him, and although I don't particularly like him, I must admit he is quite good. I do think he is somewhat overrated though (in Belgium that is).

Difficult to say right now because I haven't really followed Fellaini closely ever since he went to the EPL.

I you had asked me that question a year ago my answer would have been: Yes, without a doubt. Defour was (is?) a more complete player.

Yeah, from what I heard Fellaini did really well, which surprised me a lot. He always struck me as somewhat of a slow player (not only when it comes to running, but also decision making etc.), so I thought he would need a lot of time to adjust.

Me too. Well basically he's physically strong, has pretty good stamina, and wins a lot of headers. So it's win, win for him the Premiership, those are the key aspect which are important for the style of play there. I guess that was the first season though, next season we'll be able to see if he can be consistent.

There won't be anybody available who can replace what Xabi does.

The people mentioning Aquilani are having a laugh because he doesn't have what it takes to hold down the midfield in both aspects of the game and frankly he's extremely overrated. Liverpool may end up wasting more than half of their money on that guy alone.
