I think Wenger will get it together again given time. He's been hurt by that big injury to Fabregas this season, and he's been unlucky that Villa have had such a good season. That league is very competitive at the moment, and while he could afford to build slowly in the past, it's costing him now. Given a season or two, he'll be challenging for the title again. Chelsea are a basket case since Mourinho - firing managers as casually as McDonalds might fire a minimum wage cashier. I think they'll struggle to match their potential for a few years and Abhramovic will get bored and pull out. Liverpool don't win titles. This is their curse. It's too early to write off Wenger, just as it was too late to write off Ferguson when building his current team had him in third.

We were behind Aston Villa before Cesc's injury.

True that, what he's doing in Villareal is phenomenal. With so little resources he has constantly produced teams that both play good football and are always in the top 4. In his first season with Villareal he took them to the CL for the first time in their history.
and then Wenger stopped him reach the final. :seven:

Sure, but you'd be much more competitive with them if he was fit and able. If Man Utd lost Vidic, it'd have hurt them a lot too - maybe less so this year with Evans coming on in such leaps and bounds, but Arsenal have always had a thinner squad.

Reporter to Newcastle’s Shola Ameobi: 'Do you have a nickname?’
Ameobi: 'No, not really’
Reporter: 'What do the lads call you?’
Ameobi: 'Shola’
Reporter: 'So what does Bobby Robson call you?’
Ameobi: 'Carl Cort.’
:rofl2:

That's an oldie but goodie. Look up some Gordon Strachen quotes if you're bored. He's been very entertaining over the years.

I paraphrase, but:
Reporter: 'So Gordon, where were you outplayed today?'
Wee Gordie Strachen: 'D'ye see the big green thing out there?'

And Cesc was very average in the time he played.

Ofcourse somewhat due to the midfield he played with being quite more demanding then before for him. Cleaning up for Denilson and being overworked, when he needs a competent DM with him to give him freedom to wreck havoc.

Which lost us the league both last season and 2002\2003, Arsene should have learnt his lesson by now.

True that, you didn't need to post it 3 times for me to get it :p

I'm not sure Wenger has what it takes to go somewhere else and start yet another project.

His judgement doesn't seem to be what it once was and, until he accepts what top players need to be paid, he will never create another great team.
but at a continental club he would have less sway over the transfer dealing save for identifying targets he wants,he could be left to cherry-pick some of the great talent he has a knack for identifying and leaving someone else to do the spade-work

He was a goal scorer, but all he had was pace and off the ball movement, he never was a really good footballer like Arshavin appears to be. He was just lucky enough to be in the better team. After seeing Arshavin play in our last two league matches, especially the last one against Fulham, i honestly believe that he has what it takes to be a top top player for us. Sure he isn't yet fit enough, and he didn't really influence the game for large periods because of that. But his bursts of quality here and there gave me a lot of hope for him. At the very least he is a much better player than Nasri.
but Ljungberg suited the arsenal style of play, Pires was sensational but Ljungberg really benefited playing off Bergkamp's intelligent passes. his positional sense was excellent and he had pace to burn, with Denis's vision it was a lethal combination, add to taht Henry's talent and Pires and you had a formidable forward line
i actually loved watching that team play, granted mostly as a fan of Bergkamp, but only Cesc would get into that team now and even then he would have had some real steel beside him in the form of Vieira or Petit

Juande Ramos did that and even won two uefa cups back to back but turned out to be a disastor in england. You never know in these things...
juande ramos underestimated the power of communication, he refused to speak english and that caused a huge barrier between him and his (big time charlie) players. something tells me that Pelligrini would not make the same mistake

Stachan goes too far because he tries to be clever with every other answer he gives in interviews.

Aberdeen legend, but a cock.

So did i, easily the most entertaining Arsenal team i've ever watched. The fact that team was comprised mostly of winners like Henry, Vieira, Pires and Bergkamp made them even more likeable.

they had the right mixture of silk and steel that this team needs, not only the physical strength of vieria, etc mixed with the guile of bergkamp, etc but the mental fortitude right through the team that makes winners:tup:
