I don't know Dutch but I say something in the lines of "Köyt". I believe that's more correct than those English pronunciations. I mean, where do they get the W from?
This is close, but not quite it. In fact it may be an acceptable alternative, Dutch has its regional variations that I don't know.

@ Martin-how do the dutch pronounce "Kuyt"? I've heard kowt, kweet, and of course the infamous "kweech" from FIFA. something you might know?
Kinda hard to describe in English but I'd say "quewt", the que from Spanish.

Dunne is City's captain Osman, Yesterday Robinho was captain because Dunne didnt play.
That is still pathetic though. No one way would I have someone who has been there for two months as Vice captain.

Its almost as ridicolous as Wenger appointing Gallas as such after few games :p

Would be funny if City joins the gang that whoops Arsenals ass next week.

I agree that picking Robinho as captain is not a good choice, but none of the other folk are exactly obvious choices.

Who would you have picked from their side as captain?

Man City: Hart (Schmeichel 19), Zabaleta, Richards, Ben-Haim, Garrido, Wright-Phillips, Kompany, Ireland, Mwaruwari (Jo 76), Robinho, Vassell.
Subs Not Used: Onuoha, Michael Ball, Hamann, Elano, Evans.

I would probably have gone for Wright-Phillips or Richards.

Wright-Phillips wouldn't be a bad choice also, except for the fact that he just recently returned. Bah, they are just trying to please their superstar.

Should an English captain have to be able to speak a foreign language so that he can communicate with all the players properly, then?

I know, Andy.

I don't think any normal club would make a move similar to making Robinho captain.

You wonder if Mark Hughes made the decision or if someone higher up 'suggested' it might be good if Robinho was captain.

robinho doesnt come across as a good communicator, like gallas, doesnt talk to his players, so in terms of potential its about as close to 0

i'd of at least made ben haim of all the foreigners there captain.

If they communicate with more players on the pitch in a different language (in a more effective way) I see no reason why they should use English. Who cares what country the club is in.
well fortunatly in italy its far less of a problem bar inter who only speak spanish than it is in the multicultural epl.

but like ive been saying for some years now, the epl has sold its soul and lost it's national identity, i dont even know what the national language of this god forsaken country is anymore because even the english cant speak their own language

:wth: that guy isnt even close to a good captain. he's a horrible footballer and an even worse leader.

Normally i would agree, but in hindsight we didnt have any better choices.

Not at all, if we're going to need ref's decisions to beat Aston Villa at home then we dont deserve to win.
actually arsenal needs the ref as their game is contained by a physical opponent, and in this case villa was too physical imo and not being sanctioned for it. Granted they played better but all their momentum swings came from a little "help" from the ref.

Thats true, and its happened with a lot of teams, especially Stoke. But the thing is, we're not new to the EPL, we know about its physical nature and we know that referees in England are more tolerant to physical contact than in continental Europe. So we should learn to deal with it instead of complaining about the refs, which most Arsenal fans(and our manager for that case) do.

I can't understand Wenger choosing not to toughen Arsenal up.

Arsenal's best teams always had 3 or 4 tough players in them.

Think when there was Vieira and Petit in midfield or Vieira and Gilberto. You need that solid base so that the creative players can do their thing.

Arsenal need to sign themselves a mean fucker or two i.e a hard CM/DM a la Vieira, Poulsen, Gattuso etc.

Yaya Toure should be the priority for January.
