at least liverpool can point to having been the best in europe in 05, whereas for juve fans, it's always "you suck in europe, and only win in Italy because of corruption, etc"

basically, anyone who calls liverpool a "big club" in a sarcastic manner, is either:
a manc
an evertonian
bitter
:D

although, i can understand someone getting annoyed with some of the supporters. quite a few knobs! but the club itself (despite the whole G+H) is not nearly as unlikeable as manu, chelsea, or even juve
Oh I thought you were a Juve fan as well. You now smell a gloryhunter to me :D

We don't suck in Europe. We only have not been as lucky as you in the finals

You definitely deserve the quotes league wise, you've been pathetic forever. As for Europe once again all your accomplishments are way in the past (like before I was born), except for 2005 which was a ridiculous fluke. I grudgingly accept that you are quite good in Europe right now, but why don't we see if that amounts to any more than hot air in the near future. Again, your bitter ( :p ) rivals the Fergusons have done it twice in recent history (not that it pleases me, nevertheless it is so). Not to mention the gazillion league titles to your zero.

Btw I'll say this. Anyone who doesn't like Juve because of "cheating" or "corruption" doesn't have the slightest clue about Italy and probably has never even been there.

That's your opinion. Why don't I just say that anyone who doesn't like Juve is bitter et voila your own tactics working for me.

well, in the league, we've been close, but it has been ages since we actually won it. and yes, I know ferguson's won it twice, but benitez will probably win it twice in far less time. in europe, fergie's not so good. in the league, he's tops, no doubt. and it's not a gazillion league titles, you may not know this, but england did have a league BEFORE the premier league, and liverpool won it several times. in fact, more than anyone else :p

and I agree about people disliking juve because of cheating. that's forming an opinion on the club withouth really knowing about it, or about the league and it's history. what is your opinion on liverpool based on?

as for disliking juve, a lot of people dislike it for similar reasons to disliking say, manu; namely, winning everything in their respective country, being favoured, being followed by lots of glory-hunters

-it's ironic that the person who i keep arguing with on the forums is martin, considering you're probably one of the members I would least expect to argue with :D
now if it was burke, andy, etc, no surprises :spliff:

What about a Juve fan who stops supporting them after realizing that Juve are cheaters? :Ian:
Again, oblivious to the realities of Italy. First I should point out that in calciopoli there wasn't a single instance of actual cheating, merely unspecified "machinations". What you can do from there is piece together hearsay and speculate on what actually happened, and I'm sure there is substance to that. Secondly, frickin eight clubs had points deducted in calciopoli. So if we are the cheaters then we take half the league with us. On top of that you have assorted financial fraud, shady auditing, fake passports, hilarious conflicts of interest (Galliani league president, who I should add received a ban and somehow failed to remove himself from his position, Inter guy delivered wiretaps to the prosection), several clubs in lower divisions relegated for match fixing, Fiorentina dropped down to Serie C1 for bankrupcy, Parma and Lazio run by white collar criminals and so forth. And mind you this is only the football arena, not even beginning to account for the ethical standards in politics, the country ran by a mobster etc.

Once you put all that together the picture becomes considerably more nuanced and if anyone based on that is willing to condemn Juve for being the cheating party is plainly an idiot. It says little to condemn a guy for being corrupt in a culture where corruption is the rule.

So what is a fan to do? Condemn the whole thing and forget about football? I guess that's an option. Or you can live with it despite the obvious flaws, whatever appeals to you.
