Seriously, Badass, the south american clubs back in the 50's and 60's were just as good, if not better, as the European clubs.
The greatest south Americans didn't go to play in Europe like they do now and 99% of the Argentinian and Brazilian players played there.

It's something like Boca, River, Santos or Sao Paolo today having players like Messi, Zanetti, Ronaldinho, Amauri, Kaka, Diego, Mascherano etc.

pele putting in good performances every 4 years doesnt warrant anything spectacular, like i said he never played in europe or for at least a big club, its like saying thiago silva is the best defender in the world right now because hes playing well in brazil
so by your logic, Rory Delap is also better than Pele, i mean Pele never played for a european team, Rory Delap on the other hand is proving himself in one of the best leagues in the world currently.

I'd like to see Pele try to throw the ball that far :D

but should he be more highly rated than say.... Del Piero??
id have dp over pele at their best in my squad. and lets not forget that pele had a fantastic brazil squad around him, he didnt single handedly win titles, where as time and time again del piero has dragged his team through thick and thin. so in answer to your question, yes.

Pele's exploits in the World Cup don't count because he had good players on his WORLD CUP team? That makes no sense.

What World Cup has Italy not gone in as a favorite? How many times have we heard before a WC, you'll have to worry about the usual contenders like France, Germany, Brazil, and Argentina, but no worries about the Italians, they're shite?
