well preaching to other teams about taking the competition seriously, and how they're in it to win. then getting knocked out by a first division team from the first match. Theres something wrong there.

"You enter a competition to win the competition. Why go into it if you’re not concerned whether you win it?
Which they did.

"Playing a young or weakened team undermines the value of the competition.
Which they didn't.

So Chelsea is completely consistent with these statements. So what's your problem?

Spurs did not loose a match since they got the new coach , imagine if he was from the start of the season
You'd be wearing a big white jersey with "Bent" written on it, that's for sure.

Just because Wilkins is deranged doesn't mean the competition means a damn thing. It's like Bryan Adams obsessing about the talent show at your local high school. You might suspect he's gone insane, but that doesn't make the talent show any more prestigious.

Btw why should Chelsea be quiet? They lived up to their own ethos, didn't they? Played a full team. So what's your beef?
Exactly.

was having a debate with a epl fan the other week, might find it amusing especially the part where he says gascoigne is better than del piero

he says:

"Take of the Black N White Tinted specs.

I feel exactly the same way about Darren Huckerby but i know it's not true.

Cantona, Maradona, Zidane, Pele, Ronaldo (Brazilian), Ronaldinho, Roberto Baggio, Johan Cryuff, Van Basten, Gascoine, George Best are all far better players than Del Piero ever was."

ronaldo?? ah! cmon! what has ronaldo won on the pitch that del piero hasnt? look at ronaldo now! hes a joke, holding out for a big wage move rather than ressurect his career at a smaller club like siena who will pay him 800k per goal as part of motivating him back to form, and he says hes too good for that? thats sickening that for him now its about the money, for del piero its about the football.

cantona? good footballer perhaps but a role model? i think not

maradona the same

pele - never even played in europe, thats like saying huntelaar is the greatest striker on earth at the moment cause hes scoring consistantly for ajax in a mickey mouse league.

ronaldinho - disgusting atitude prior to the world cup he admitted he didnt want to try because he could rely on his other team mates to do the work, overrated!

gascoigne? - u seriously telling me this drunken wreck is better than del piero? yes he was a good player in his day but im truely insulted and im sure most modest fans would be where was gascoigne when he hit 33? down the pub? in rehab? in hospital? enuff said.

van basten - ended his career early so i cant see how you can even compare his to del piero's since del piero lasted longer, plus van basten had the great milan team, probably the greatest milan team ever assembled, juve dont have that.

the point is del piero is a leader, an inspiration, Juve may not be a team of world class galacticos but it just shows his influence on the rest of the team, carries the team on his shoulders every time, which is more than what can be said about most if not all of the players mentioned above.
