It's a shame that Leeds is discussed on a Juventus forum, and John Charles isn't mentioned :disagree:
Now if in (let's say) 40 years, after (let's say) Trezeguet retires, and noone mentions Trez on AS Monaco's crisis discussion, they're wrong?

I don't get it, what's the sense in that?
Charles was a legend at Juve. WTH cares about his Leeds career?

With all due respect of course :)

Dacourt was great with Leeds... probably the one player they couldn't live without during their quest for the Champions League in 2001.

Mills - Ferdinand - Matteo - Harte

Bowyer - Bakke - Dacourt - Kewell

Viduka - Smith

What an underrated yet solid team that had potential. But I'm glad they went down as I could never stand Leeds.
Individually they werent a great team, but I remember watching them against Lazio, Milan; they had a fantastic team spirit, and will to win the game. Work-rate at the middle of park was second to none, and the reason why unbelievably good Lazio team got knocked out at a second group stage. Leeds definetely over-achieved but considering the luck of the draw they had (or rather lack of), they deserve some of their luck, and for me, it was one of better fairy-tale story, (unlike Porto who had to just beat ManUre on their way triumph, because big teams found a way to self-destruct).

As for their current predicament, I couldnt care about less. But its nice to know, we arent the only one suffering.:D

Ok, I just noticed my thread was moved here. How come? Leeds aren't in the EPL...

Anyway, no I don't support Leeds. I just thought it was rather sad that a team that had great players in their ranks are now fighting for their lives...:disagree:

Leeds getting relegated is unthinkable

Yeah, absolutely. Individually they were rather lackluster, however not bad on paper and certainly quite a fighting unit on the pitch. But big bad Peter Ridsdale had to throw everything away with one stroke of the pen, including O'Leary. The blame for this continuing Leeds crisis must totally rest on Ridsdale's shoulders, in my opinion.

Padelli joins Reds on loan
Wednesday 10 January, 2007
Italian Under-21 goalkeeper Daniele Padelli will join Liverpool on a six-month loan, confirmed the player’s agent on Wednesday.

The Azzurrino, who is currently owned by Sampdoria, had moved to Serie B side Crotone on a loan deal this summer but has failed to displace veteran Salvatore Soviero.

“Padelli will travel to Liverpool this afternoon to undergo a medical,” explained agent Silvano Martina.

“The clubs have agreed on a six-month loan deal and the player is excited at the prospect of playing for Liverpool.”

Padelli, who appeared for Italy in the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship, is thrilled with the opportunity of an England switch.

“This is a dream for me,” he said. “I think that the call-up with the U-21 squad was a decisive factor in this issue. Now I look forward to making my debut in the Premiership.”

Wycombe hold Chelsea

Minnows Wycombe pulled off one of the best results in their history on Wednesday when they held Premiership champions Chelsea to a 1-1 draw. Wayne Bridge opened the scoring for the Blues with a brave effort, only to see serial scorer Jermain Easter equalise to set up a mouth watering second leg.

Easter has now scored in every round of the competition and the semi-final tie is very much still alive ahead of the second leg at Stamford Bridge on January 23.

Chelsea has officially hit a new low. Mourinho will be gone by end of this summer. I'll actually make a surprise prediction here as I reckon we will see him in with Milan next summer. Possible contender will be Real Madrid. It would sell papers for sure though.

Chelsea draw! So what its just the first leg Plus the got an away goal. Nobody is gonna remember this if they qualify:D
I think they conceded a goal against virtually amateurs at home on Sat. At a current rate, I wouldnt bet against Chelsea not conceding a goal against this opponent. Whilst nobody will remember this for sure if they qualify, I am sure enjoying their current predicament :D.

I still think Chelsea is good enough to win the League. The gap is only 6 points. I have seen bigger collapses before, and I reckon there are signs that ManUre are starting to slow down a bit. As long as the current gap doesnt extend till late Feb, I will bet my money on Chelski.

It sure interesting though to see who they will end up with in this Winter market.

Chelsea: Hilario, Geremi, Bridge, Ferreira, Ashley Cole, Essien, Makelele, Mikel, Ballack, Kalou, Wright-Phillips - Subs: Kalambay, Morais, Lampard, Sahar, Sinclair

Wycombe: Batista, Martin, Antwi, Williamson, O'Halloran, Oakes, Bloomfield, Doherty, Betsy, Easter, Mooney - Subs: Young, Torres, Palmer, Dixon, Anya

i know it will be forgotten, but its just funny how a team which has spent more money in one season then other in ten seasons for new players, manage not more then a draw.

the sad thing was arsenal had six shots-six goals. Liverpool had a lot more, but only scored three. CLEAR difference in attacking quality. and Dudek was horrible in both games, and then defence was total scheisse particularly in the carling. bloody embarrassing!

One of the main reasons for conceding these stupid goals are because of Hilario. This guy is utter crap. He doesn't have any sense of awareness, his arial ability is a joke, doesnt know when to come out or not, and is a complete mess during corner-kicks. He's lucky that he's got players like Terry and Carvalho defeding him, otherwise goals could've been flying by easily.

Also Mourinho should drop one of Ballack or Lampard and deploy players on the wing, like last season. This way they're much more effective going forward.

I also believe in Chelsea to win the league. Fegrguson will surely fuck as usuall, or even sooner if Ronaldo gets hacked in the next game.

I agree. Even my Gran is a better GK than Hilario. His mistake against Arsenal could prove to be the decisive mistake in the way League pan out, just as Van der Saar will be remembered for a series of mistake that cost us Serie A to Roma.

Neither Ballack nor Lampard is good enough to play on the wing, IMO. Somebody like Wilhemson would have helped Chelsea for sure. In any case, if Mourinho is so stubborn as to to play wingback system, I think he should consider playing 3 at the back. In that way, he will give cover for Ashely Cole and Geremi to push up. Beside, with Mikael Essien and Paolo Ferreira at CB, it will be good insurance policy to have one extra defender.

The league is not over yet for sure. Its all about momentum, and I think I have seen sign that ManUre is starting to slow down. The onus of Chelski to hit the form though: with a squad that good, I cant believe they will capitulate this such wimpish manner.

It's good to see that even Chelsea can't afford to lose their first two goalkeepers without a big drop in quality.

Also Mourinho should drop one of Ballack or Lampard and deploy players on the wing, like last season. This way they're much more effective going forward.
With a keeper like that? He's probably trying to keep things tight. Besides, he only has Cole, Robben and Wright-Phillips now, so if he wants to play two wingers, he either has to play Robben on the right (which I don't think he likes), or use Wright-Phillips, who isn't worth dropping a player like Ballack for.

I also believe in Chelsea to win the league. Fegrguson will surely fuck as usuall, or even sooner if Ronaldo gets hacked in the next game.
Ferguson usually fucks up? He's had a terrible team in place for the past few years, but finally has enough quality (and mobility!) in the middle, his youngsters are maturing - Ronaldo and Rooney at least, his older players like Scholes, Giggs and Solskjaer are in good form, and he's finally given up the now dated notion of fighting for a title with what you have - the emergency signing of Larsson is something he wouldn't have done in the past, and adds that little bit more sting to a team which might have faltered in the face of an injury or two.

No, I think that if Man Utd fail, it'll be because the older players burn out towards the end (which I doubt they will), not because of any mistakes from Ferguson, or any lack of will. The soft team in decline, too used to winning, which Arsenal and Chelsea reeled in, is no more.
