I love that Premier League apologists try to argue this away by saying it shows how strong the Premier League is, and how it's way more competitive than other leagues.

Absolute tosh. Leicester City has spent 73 million euros on transfers over the last 3 years combined. Pennies compared to the amount spent by the big clubs like Chelsea, ManU, ManCity, Liverpool, Tottenham, Arsenal. FFS ManCity and ManU have bought single players worth far more than the entirety of LCs 3 year total gross spend.

Every other league is dominated by the teams that spend the most. Juve in Italy, Barca and Real in Spain, PSG in France, Bayern in Germany. Only in the PL are the teams that spend the most embarrassing themselves by allowing a team that was supposed to be a relegation candidate to lead the league after 25 rounds. Add to this how shit they've been in CL and there is absolutely no defense for that league.

Competitiveness doesn't equal quality, that's the point they miss. It just means a lot of teams are the same level. And here we are talking about several teams with very expensively assembled squads being on par or inferior to some who cost a quarter of the price. And besides, we have a marker to judge the quality of the league - European competition, which has shown Premier League teams to be a lot of hot air for several seasons now.

Competiveness/Parity/Randomness just means mediocrity :agree:
