Even more insulting to the guy given that orientals in casinos here are 99% Chinese.

Two reasons here why it was perceived differently: 1) He's English, not racist Johnny Foreigner. 2) The person he abused was oriental rather than black.
Dude, only racist grand parents use the word "oriental" to describe people from Asia.

THE LUIS SUÁREZ AWARD FOR SCORING LOADS OF GOALS AND MAKING PEOPLE FORGET ABOUT THAT RACISM THING

This year, Jamie Vardy has scored lots of goals. This year, Jamie Vardy has also been forced to apologise for screaming “Walk on, Jap” at a fellow casino-goer who he thought perhaps might have been possibly looking at his cards. Thing is though, you’ll have read plenty of headlines about the former and not quite so many about the latter. So, all you have to do in order to sweep some loud and absolutely colossal public racism under the carpet is be unexpectedly good at your job. Simple stuff, really.

Like Indians and Pakistanis?

Or take Porto to a UCL final victory?

Edit. That was meant for JuveJay, wrong quote
That was a over a decade and four guarantee jobs ago. But he certainly deserves all the credit for those wins with Porto and Inter. The FIGC also deserve some for the latter.

Inter is true.

But I would argue that you cannot hold Porto being ten years ago against him. It was and still is an incredible feat.

He had quite incredible luck with the draws and results that year.

2nd in easy group behind Madrid. Draws a mediocre ManU in Rof16. Then somehow gets Lyon, Deportivo, Monaco. That's the weakest set of opponents a CL winner has faced in the last 20 years.

It's still impressive, but they had incredible luck with the draws and other results.
