Chelsea are amazing when it comes to selling players.

£11m (€15.4m) for a 33 year old reserve keeper. That is just nasty. The only gripe is they've sold to a fellow top 4 team. I refuse to call Arsenal a title contender though.
When I was thinking about what the fee would be for Cech I had about £10m in my head, so that seems about right. He might be a reserve keeper but that's only because of Courtois, and at 33 he probably has 5 years left in him, as a keeper. It's one of the safest ten-eleven million pounds that Arsenal will ever spend, barring injury.

You're thinking in terms of Storari. Cech on the other hand has been a starter for his entire career and was only put aside because Mourinho wants a younger, equally good goalkeeper. He does however have a couple of years left in him and he will be world class for Arsenal.

Weird to just call him reserve keeper when we all know he is a top one, and 33 is pretty ideal good prime age for goalie. 11m is pretty good fair price and not too much at all.

Cech had and offer from MU but he wanted to stay in London so Chelsea did the same Juve did with Tevez, they respected players will.

The price is very good. 5 years younger than Buffon and Petr should do the job for 5 seasons or more

Whatever happened to that little prick Sterling? If I were Rodgers, I would make him rot on the bench to make an example out of him.

He signed for Leicester, good thing Cambiasso isnt there anymore, or Huth would have it easy material for some cheeky banter :p

@thirteen, Liverpool has handled the whole situation like total amateurs, now City can just wait til Liverpool have to accept their not so high bid due to this sitaution. But yeah Sterling is a monge, mainly for letting that ridicolously retard agent influence him to this degree. Same agent that another starlet like Berahino just left as a client because of how awful and crass he has handled the Sterlin sitaution. Text book case of how bad these agents can be in this sport.

How is that?

They shouldnt have allowed it to become such a soap opera public spat, I mean a friggin player publically belittling his coach and saying he wont work with him, a dumbass agent insulting the club saying he wont sign even for 800k in all media, shit been embarrassing, it should be handled behind close doors as much as possible, and with little more discplined hand. Now this melodrama just devalues Sterling, at this point IMO you should do a Dortmund and should force the fucker to stay no matter what, to showcase players shouldnt be allowed to act to this big degree (refusing pre-season even).

What? Keep it behind closed doors? That makes no sense. All of that was Sterling's team. Liverpool didn't tell him to do an interview with the BBC. Liverpool didn't tell him to hire a retard for a manager. Liverpool has no control over what agents say in the media. The only person devaluing Sterling is Sterling. I think the club has handled it as well as to be expected.

Defenitely the problem is the player/agent part of the equation (though Liverpool management has a responsibility in letting the contract negiotions be mishandled til it got to this point), but what I mean with behind close doors is not just putting gag order on them, you cant. But be alot more firm and discplinary, set the boundaries, before he/they think its acceptable to act this outlandish. Or try to solve this mess before it became this much of an embarrassment. This kid and the agent are making a fuss without actually outright saying he will leave for sure, which is extra funny in itself. Clowning out and think they can take the club for a ride. Havent even handed out a transfer request, call their bluff, see if they do it, and if they do, do it in your own terms and only for what you see is big enough sum. At this rate City (who just bought Delph) who are desperate for any and every enghlish talent due to CL rules, and which you should be able to demand whatever you want almost due to that, are being handed all the cards when it comes to what fees they can give to get him due to this current mess. If it comes to it, IMO it could be useful to just take the strong no nonsense posiition with this kid and force him to stay. He might moan and sulk few a while, freeze himself out, but eventually has to play or its bad for his career. Its worse sitaution due to expiring contract, but money aside, might be worth to take a stand with this kind of BS.

Btw, have you read this article? (total clickbait whoring lol) Quite funny/silly stuff (agreed regarding Henderson in this, but the solution to Sterling is just a laugh): http://www.theguardian.com/football...pool-raheem-sterling-jordan-henderson-captain

I did not know Guardian hired internet trolls as journalists :D
