Funny thing is that after spending more than 150m on players, Man Utd beat them using more or less the same players from last season barring Blind and Herrera.

Watching that game it just stands out for me time and again that these teams have a philosophy and only that, there is no tactical response to any match situations, they just go out and play and attack and hope for moments of quality or mistakes (usually the latter) to decide games.

The Premier League is going backwards but getting more and more money, it's just laziness.

It has been like that for a while, physicality, individual brilliance and defense mistakes, and they call it the most entertaining, i mean, sometimes you do get some nice matches, but last night, i mean considering the team on paper, MU is absolutely shite, i cant believe Herrera and Young can own that midfield, and then they have Smalling and Jones, ooh man..

All the money in the world, and you field Clichy, Dimichelis, Milner, Zabaleta....
I think that's unfair on Zabaleta. He might have had a poor game, but in general he is a very solid fullback.

Clichy and Demichelis are poor.

Milner is just ok, he isn't skillful or anything, but he is a hard worker, and can be a useful player at times.

Manure, 2 offside gols and mangala is even worse than ogbonna
Mangala has been terrible ever since joining City, I personally don't understand the hype at all. I mean I didn't watch him when he was at Porto, so I'm not sure how good he was then. But he obviously lacks basic intelligence as a defender, he looks like someone that relies almost completely on his physical ability.

Milner is probably the most underrated City player, he, and perhaps Fernandinho are the only midfielders of them who actually do some defensive work. If anything, City needs more Milners, yesterday he even was the deciding factor in their goal, playing the great pass to Silva.

It´s going to be interesting to see how City regroup over the next few seasons. Can´t just buy a new team, like they did in the beginning.

Ya I agree, even though I think Fernandinho can be a bit of a headless chicken at times, he's not always very intelligent in his positioning, and does seem to over commit himself more than he should, but he is indeed underrated, and the defensive work he does for City should not be discounted.

Seems to me like there is more competition for top players these days, than when City started this oil club stuff.
Actually its because of the new FFP rules. They can't buy players freely now because of the new regulations. Pellegrini actually had the gull to blame his poor results this season on not being able to buy players freely last summer.

I suppose it depends how much City generate in sales. There is talk of Nasri, Yaya, Dzeko, Fernando, Clichy, Jovetic, Jesus Navas and Kolarov all being sold, and they are losing Milner and Lampard.

BTW Chelsea definitely started the oil club thing, those days were just scandalous.

Tbh though and as much as I hate saying it, but ever since they brought back that fuck Mourinho, they've been doing some extremely shrewd business in the transfer market.

City are just stupid in their transfer dealings most of the time.

I highly doubt they could even generate more than 70-80m(maybe even less) for those list of players and that kind of money,in an EPL market and going by City's reputation of paying over the top prices, they'd find it extremely hard to revamp the squad adequately.
