Seems like you're deliberately trying to bash the quality of the premier league and at the same time bigging up Serie A's quality level but unfortunately for you,its coming at the expense of vastly underrating Tevez' quality while he was at the PL.A typical agenda driven post from you,not that its surprising.

Tevez was a world class forward in the EPL,one of the league's best players in his prime,end of.Serie A experience has got nothing to do with his scoring prowess in the CL this yr.I'd argue that Tevez' stint at City while he was carrying the team on the back of his shoulders is better than this current version.

You can make excuse for 1-2 seasons of his performances in Europe, but 6 goals in 7 years is bellow average for any striker.

Being great in the EPL means very little, as their clubs fail at the very first obstacle in Europe, the ultimate test for any player in this day and age.

Did you conveniently ignore that he failed to score a single goal in last season's edition ?

There's no learning curve I assume? He spent a year here, improved his game, became more tactically astute, adopted new ways, etc... and a year later he's been having the best season of his career in the most important club competition. There's strong correlation between his arrival to Italy and sudden increase in the level of his performances. If Juve gets to the final or wins the CL and Tevez maintains this kind of form, he will be a legitimate candidate for the balon d'or.

Again are you guys talking about players only based on current form or are you evaluating them as overall players throughout the years we have watched them play? This would make a huge difference because players like Falcao and Van Persie who used to be real good are having a terrible season. Ibra is a shadow of his former self. Tevez is in the form of his life. Bale is having a bad season but was unstoppable for the last two seasons. Ribery is dead etc..

I think its better to evaluate them over-all as players. My evaluation of them overall:

Tier 1: Obviously Messi and Ronaldo.
Tier 2: Robben, Ibra, Suarez, Bale, Neymar, Ribery
Tier 3: Muller, Costa, RVP, Aguero, Falcao, Tevez, Rooney, Di Maria, Hazard, Sanchez, Benzema, Cavani, Reus.
Tier 4: Sturridge, Higuain, Morata, Pastore, Gotze.

I am sure I have forgotten some people. Also belonging to the same Tier does not mean that they are equally good I am using tiers as ranges and I certainly dont mean they are equally good now. For the younger players I am including where I think they'll end up being after fully developing.

They're actually pretty similar in terms of output, especially considering Cavani has been played out of position so often for PSG.

Cavani's 3 seasons at Napoli were beastly. Taking his last 5 seasons:

10/11 - 47 appearances - 33 goals - 11 assists
11/12 - 48 appearances - 33 goals - 7 assists
12/13 - 43 appearances - 38 goals - 8 assists
13/14 - 43 appearances - 25 goals - 7 assists
14/15 - 41 appearances - 18 goals - 2 assists

222 appearances - 147 goals - 35 assists

Aguero's last 5 seasons were:

10/11 - 41 appearances - 27 goals - 7 assists
11/12 - 48 appearances - 30 goals - 12 assists
12/13 - 40 appearances - 17 goals - 7 assists
13/14 - 34 appearances - 28 goals - 14 assists
14/15 - 35 appearances - 23 goals - 10 assists

198 appearances - 125 goals - 50 assists

They're both strikers, so don't give me shit about statistics don't tell the whole story. A striker's job is to score goals, and create them for others. Cavani scores at a better rate than Aguero. Aguero assists at a better rate than Cavani. In terms of actual results on the field, the two are very very close, and one could argue either way.

As a sidenote, I'm surprised Aguero has played that many games. He really hasn't been injured that often...

btw, I love the overall package of Cavani, he was my dream signing to build an attack on simply because he is so complete as a striker. But Aguero pretty much would run rings around him in ability alone.


Btw, I regurarly watch this clip every year (not overall his career clip, just how small collection of what he did with the ball when it was in the air...), just to remind myself of my childhood and wtf I witnessed when I used to see him play. truly insanely inspiring $#@!.

Yeah. I know what you meant. I was just teasing. I agree with you. Aguero has that calm presence in the box, he's a player wiling to take his time. Cavani fucks up quite a number of chances, with his frantic style around goal. If Cavani was more clinical, he could literally be scoring at a Ronaldo/Messi rate. It's insane that he scores as often as he does, while missing so many chances. That 38 goal season of his was crazy.

Romario is probably my favourite striker of all time, of one's I saw play anyways. I started watching football with the 1990 World Cup when I was 6, but 1994 is my first really big memory. It's really too bad he missed WC '90 and '98. The seeming impossibility and craziness of what he pulled off, his "i don't really give a shit about football" attitude, his insane instincts and composure. Loved watching him play.

Shameless marketing signing :D This guy is young, easy to watch, and he's handsome (more Japanese fans are women).

He wouldn't get in the Chelsea first team right now, but they'll probably loan him to Vitesse or wherever. I was pretty sure someone would be linked soon as he started the new season like a house on fire.

He's not a real striker, typical Japanese forward who plays as an SS and out in wider areas. He's also one of the few Japanese players in that position who is not a midget. Difficult to say how good he could become, honestly there are a lot of Japanese players with skill who play this role, he's just more European in build, and a bit more elegant. Actually I'd say that he is more like a Japanese Kaka than anyone else I can think of right now.

Hopefully he does better than Takashi Usami did (a comparable talent, for me).

Loris was the best in france so it was big boots to fill, but he was always very good for nice. Not an inspiring signing by any means but i was still pretty content when we got him. His biggest downfall is his lack of height i guess.
