I know those are common situations. I should have added, not only protection from sexual predators, but from the kids' own poor judgement.
Yes, but you cannot expect a man to ask for ID if the girl says she's older than 16 and might even look older than 20.

Most importantly I think we'd all do well in reserving judgment in this type of cases until the facts are clear.

Not talking about this case, just generally.

Agree that it's not practical to ask for ID in every instance, but when there's doubt, I do

agreed, i also find it ridiculous that if a girl lies about her age the man is still liable for a stat rape offense. This whole age thing is a joke imo
Yep. I mean there obviously needs to be some sort of protection for minors, but the way it's handled atm is ridiculous at times.

A 15 years old is perhaps something else, but how e.g. a 19 year old in some US-states can get into prison for statuary rape when he sleeps with his 17 year old girlfriend just doesn't make any sense.

That wouldn't happen tho, they have exceptions for circumstances like that

Really? Kids do stupid things because they're kids, and shoud have some protection from adults who exploit that
thats a naive and one dimensional view, kids as you call them can and do exploit adults(ex: you and your parents) and kids do stupid shit because they are human and are told they wont get in trouble if they do, such as in this case.

Shit nigga, that's why you join the We-Card program.
real smooth :D

C'mon man. You knows teens don't have the best judgment. You think it's right that a 15 year old girl faces being a single mom because it was her decision to give up her little butt. Surely there must be at least some age for you that draws the line. 12? 9?

Bear with me please, but what about the sale of alcohol and liquor to minors? Should that be legal?

blame the parents, or maybe not every person is meant to have the life that society/parents designed for them, i think 15 is a good age to hold people accountable for their actions

kids should be held accountable. we do hold them accountable for other crimes like theft or murder.

also 15 this age is different than 15 20 years ago. this is the age of the internet. kids know more than we do by the time they are 9 years old

It's not imo. I agree with Matt that these folks often make poor judgments. They lack the brain capacity to weigh negative consequences of their actions properly and even though it varies from one kid to another, they literally are unable to develop such ability until after a certain age (21-22). Other thing is that they know (no less than adults) that say drunk driving or unprotected sex is dangerous but they fail to act accordingly and that's why many of these prevention education programs are useless and that's why these kids should be protected by more strict laws which make the context safer for not only them but also those who are on the receiving end of their stupid decisions.
