The problem is, I dont think any of these guys actually fits the profile of our future CM. Isco and James seem to be too offensive for our mid. Luiz Gustavo seems like a good buy, but now I really wonder why we didnt go for someone like Kante.
We are also really stacked:
Pjanic, Claudio, Khedira, Asa, Sturaro, possibly Pjaca (if we sell Hernanes and Pereyra) two more midfielders would be overkill. I really dont know how this can be solved, we are in need of both attacking minded and defensive minded mid but we have place only for one.
That why I understand some of us would be happy with Brozovic as he can play more defensive and more offensive player.

James is basically impossible. We spent 90m on Higuain because we sold Pogba. No way we are spending ~70m on James - not happening. Isco is not impossible valuation wise but Zidane may want to keep him and Isco has never shown any intention to leave.

Assuming James is sold, then there may be an opportunity for the club willing to spend that money to sell whichever midfielder they have. So we would get the dregs basically.

Kovacic is a much more likely option from Real Madrid assuming we are interested.

Honestly, I know that Hernanes, Pereyra and Zaza are supposedly on their way out and we will net close to 50m in transfer fees from them - 70m if you include Coman. I just don't have any idea who we are being linked to that is A) Probable; B) Suitable; and C) Affordable

As a Pereyra replacement, they fit the profile. problem is someone like James is so much of an upgradre that will be difficult to fit in starting eleven together with Pjanic without messing up the balance.

Unless only if we 4312, but thats highly unlikely to be primary formation with 5 starter material CBs.

Just saying:
With the sales of Zaza, Pereyra & potentially the cash from Coman, we can definitely afford to buy James.

I had already said, based off our finances, we could in theory afford at 100-150MM in net expenditures, based off revenue growth & balance sheet capacity.

If we buy James we are certainly playing 4-3-1-2 though, which I think Allegri wants. He loves that formation.

You have to remember: interest rates in Europe are negative with no end in sight. If there is any time to take advantage of cheap financing to invest for the future, it is now because money is LITERALLY free. Orange can issue 10 year debt at 0.3%! 0.3%!! Not saying Juventus has the credit profile of orange, but Juventus can certainly get a term loan for 1-2%.

You been already on for bout a month now, dropping his name in every other post :p

If they really after fabregas, good chance he will leave. James and Johnny square would be an interesting ending to our mercato.
This I won't deny.

I dunno why all the fapping by Coman's sale...it was 99,9% clear that he would be bought by Bayern and that money isn't supposed to cover for Benatia? So far we spent 12,00m € and after selling Zaza & Pereyra we'll go to + 30m €....most def James is affordable. Pjanic as a regista and James as a TQ. If we add the Coman money we can get a defensive minded CM but I doubt we'll spend that money now.

Formation wise, Allegri is NOT going to dis the 352 as his core at least at the beginning. BBC is the core and strength of the team and we perhaps have the best wing backs in the world. So you can see why the 352 suits this team. Only reason why it may come under question is that in the 352, the mid 3 has more freedom to attack - i.e Khedira and Pogba would attack a lot in that formation and were very good at it. Presumably when Marchisio returns, it would be Khedira and Pjanic.

Now, James as far as I am aware is a pure attacking mid. I don't know how much defensive work or general work rate is. We would have to change formation to accomodate him. That is a big call for a player who has been clearly out of favor.

Perhaps the 352 becomes a bit of a 3412 with James just in front of the more defensive 2 (Marchisio and Pjanic).

James would be an exciting name but again, I see the chances of that happening at less than 5%.

I think that is definitely possible. Pirlo had limited defensive responsibility with Juventus. Now that we have lost Pogba and do not have a guy with that sort of athleticism and power going forward, shifting to a CAM, and two deeper midfielders could be a possibility. In theory, Allegri loves that trident attacking trident, and 3 at the back is Juventus' strength, so it could work.
