Juventus secure Andre Gomes

Juventus are said to have secured Valencia midfielder Andre Gomes for next season in a deal worth €30m.

The Bianconeri need to act on the transfer market because Claudio Marchisio is ruled out for six months by an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Andre Gomes is the ideal alternative because not only can he fill in for Marchisio, but he can also play in deeper or more advanced roles, including the trequartista Max Allegri has been asking for.

The Portugal international has been on the Juve radar for some time, but Marchisio’s injury forced director general Beppe Marotta to step up the pace.

This deal is expected to be worth €25m to €30m and his wages are still considered affordable by the Bianconeri.

Andre Gomes turns 23 in July and has five senior caps for Portugal to his name.

Valencia only signed him outright from Benfica in July 2015 for €15m, having kept him on loan for a season first.

priority is an AM to give us more counter attacking capabilities. if we renew evra and barzagli, we just need a good RB to challenge lichtsteiner

More than anything, we need AT LEAST 2 new defenders. We are skating on very very thin ice here with age and injuries creeping in.

Forget the MF, forget another attacker. The priority simply has to be the backline.

No it isn't.

Evra is 35, Barzagli is 35, Lichsteiner is 32, Chiellini will be 32. We have 1 defender under the age of 25, and that is Rugani. That is a recipe for disaster unless they do something.

Where have most of the injuries taken place this year? On the defense. This squad has always been built from the back.

Obviously, Rakib. That still doesn't give us the security & depth we need to man all these injuries & age isn't reversing. We need to refresh the backline. Don't forget Caceres is gone.

I reckon andre gomes can be the perfect allegri amc for us, one that can also play as cm; he, pogba and dybala is quite a good combination in 4312, not sure if gomes can play in 352 with pogba and another cm though

That is 1 young defender. That is all we have. It is painfully obvious that this defense is getting older, slower, and more injury prone

I prefer Widmer over Peres and anyone else that we can get. Younger than Peres and Vrsaljko, defensively superior to Peres and miles ahead of Vrsalko in regards to crossing.

As far as a CB is concerned, just get a good one that is at least reasonably young. And preferably left footed.
