I don't see Asabob leaving at all. He is clearly the only midfielder we currently have who can realistically challenge our starters.

I'm expecting a really silent summer in terms of incomings and outgoings because we went through so drastic changes last summer.

If he cannot stay healthy then the team shouldn't continue paying for a player that cannot play. When is his contract up?

2 years left in his contract. I'm optimistic over Asamoah regaining health and form.

I really thought he would push on this season but that really hasn't happened even though he has got more than enough chances. He's still young though so I wouldn't want to lose him fully.

If you are a limited 22 year old player then you are going to be a limited 28 year old player. Offcourse he could improve a little and become a good squad player.
We should definetly sell him now while he is still worth something.

It's not 7(8 with Asamoah) players for 3 spots, because they are not all competing with eachother. If you add Asamoah to your list it's basically basically 2 DMs, 2 LCMs, 3 RCMs and Padoin, with Asa being the #2 LCM. He's also the #3/2 LWB depending on whether Evra renews, so selling him means we'd have to buy another LCM with the money from Asa's lowest value in years or play Sturaro as Pogba's backup. I mentioned De Ceglie because as I recall he's homegrown and without Evra and Asamoah he's the best fit LWB we own. If you find the prospect of a Padoin - Sturaro left side more likely then go with that. The reason we barely rest Pogba and Sandro at the same time is that we barely rest Pogba period. We rest Sandro more or less every other game because he plays in a very taxing position, so if Evra doesn't renew and Pogba gets injured or is rested along with Sandro for a big CL game, the prospect of seeing Padoin - Sturaro on the left becomes very realistic.

On the subject of his injury-prone nature, it's exaggerated. He was fit for his first two seasons and then had to undergo a serious knee surgery. He was rushed back much sooner than he should have been which reinjured him and he's been rushed back again in an attempt to play his way to full fitness. The minor injuries he's had this season are the predictable result of that quick return and the fact he hasn't been seriously injured since is a good sign. If he makes it to the summer without any major injury he shouldn't be more likely to be injured than any other player in our squad, and if he doesn't we won't be able to offload him anyway.

The fact is that he's looked good when he's played this season and if he continues to do so while staying reasonably fit we shouldn't be trying to offload him.

I have no idea why you are so strict with players positions. There is a difference between DM and CM but dividing players into LCMs and RCMs? Players dont become worse if they get moved a little to left/right, they still have the same role to play. So its Marchisio, Lemina, Diawara at DM and Pogba, Khedira, Marchisio, Lemina, Sturaro, Diawara, Padoin at CM (in case Pereyra, Hernanes and Asamoah leave). And Sturaro is what, 6th choice midfielder? Wed have to have a serious injury crisis for him to start a run of games. Our starting trio is Marchisio-Pogba-Khedira, then Lemina as 1st choice from the bench (can play both DM and CM effectively), then comes Sturaro but would probably be overtaken by Diawara soon enough in the pecking order if we sign him. If Evra leaves we will ofcourse sign a replacement. Counting on Padoin as the only sub for Sandro would be unwise.

Well see what happens, id love Asamoah to be given a chance to regain fitness and return to the form he had under Conte, but I doubt that will happen, if we intend to sign a new CM in the summer

Maybe Asamoah is the Juve player Conte will snatch from us. They would definitely improve with him in the side.

I'm strict with ours because most of them look lost on the other side. Sturaro has looked shambolic on the left as did Pereyra when he played a game or two there last season, and he's been a shadow of his former self for most of this season anyway. Pogba can play on the right and has when he's played with Asamoah this season, but seeing as he's our best CM we're better off playing him in his strongest position whenever possible. Marchisio can also play LCM, but considering he was being called Casper for the entire season he last played there and has looked amazing at DM, it is generally not in our best interest to play him there. Perhaps Khedira or Lemina could play at LCM, but the fact that Pogba was almost never rested until Asamoah was fit enough to play and the fact that Sturaro played there even when we did rest him suggests that they're not going to be played at LCM any time soon.

In my view, Sturaro, Hernanes and Padoin are all more likely to be sold, possibly Pereyra as well if he doesn't get his act together by the end of the season. If someone came to us with a good offer for Asamoah we'd obviously consider selling him, but taking his last couple seasons into account that seems unlikely.

Also Conte is the same guy who played him as fullback for 3 years, I hardly think he will be in his shortlist for CMs to buy even if he was healthy.

If we go for him, we should also try to solve the morata deal and reach an agreement with real madrid.....they give us morata and James (i find more realistic to secure morata than cavani)....and we give them a shitton of money and well..there will go all our mercato funds.

We rejected high offers for him in January, hes italian on low wages, didnt express any desire to leave so far and was good more times than he wasn't. Even had some great CL games. Cant ask more from your 6th choice CM. I agree about Hernanes, hes definitely the 1st one to leave. If someone offers a bag of peanuts take it and run

We can't offer Morata for Lukaku. If we pay for the buyback clause to be removed we could but i don't see why we would do it. Would be a stupid move

Thats not how the management thinks obviously. I think we will start offloading these older guys slowly, and bring in some of those numerous young CMs we have options on.
