Kroos is so overrated if you seriously think he can do more damage then James.

Offensively James can be insanely good obviously better than Kroos as CAM.

However, Kroos can defend better (Allegri likes that) and can play CM (Marchisio's role) and is still great as CAM. With Kroos you buy a world class CM and a world class CAM. 3-5-2 or 4-3-1-2 we would be set in both cases.

For the same price I'd take a player that can be world class in two roles both of which I need reinforcing then take a player that is World Class in just one role even if in that role he is better than his counterpart. That is unless the gulf in quality as CAM is huge which I dont think it is.

Kroos can barely defend, he can play deeper then James, but defending is not something I can attest to his qualities. In fact its absolutely bizzare he has played holding mid so long for Real, their midfield is clear liability since the first minute because of it, even more so for playing next to equally creative and not so hardworking CMs/AMs, though Modric does a decent job.


I rate Kroos quite a bit in overall, but James is just so direct and lethal as AM that I would choose him over Kroos for sure. The german despite his good qualities, rarely really imposes himself on games. He basically just spreads balls here or there mostly, he impressed me the most in his earlier years with Bayern, but not so much with Real or final years with Bayern.



Kroos is defenitely quality player, but if you can get this instead, you defenitely do it without hesitation.

Kroos is one of the most overrated players in existence. You'd think his offensive contributions would be Messi level with how little work he puts in defensively. Ya, he can send a good long ball with tons of time on the ball. He's not a player I'd have in my midfield.

Kroos is definitely not world class in multiple positions. He's hardly world class in a single position. He's definitely a very good player, but his limitations are very very visible at Real Madrid.

Would far prefer James here, in a position where we really need what he offers. There is a vast gulf in quality as a CAM between James and Kroos.

Could you imagine how slow our team would be with Licht, Chiello, Bonucci, Barza, Evra, Khedira, Kroos, Mandzu, Dybala all on the pitch? Terrifying to think of how terrible we would be on the counter.

The Götze case is still wide open and I havnt heard anything about Bayern having made a decision about offering a new contract or not. Ancelotti is the crucial factor here and I have no idea what he thinks. Maybe a well connected Italien source knows something about Ancelotti’s thoughts. I read so much nonsense in the media, that most stuff is hard to believe.

He is back from injury, but Pep hasnt given him any chances yet. Its clear he would like to stay under special circumstances and another coach could be a blessing, cos I still rate him very highly and he has special qualities, that r rarely to find. He has a great technique and a wonderful 1st touch, has an instinct for goals and his finishing is extraordinary and nice passing too..he is a smart little fella. He must be positioned near the goal to use his strengths.

The system Bayern has played under Pep is least suited to his strengths though, as the opponents mostly parking the bus meaning tight spaces and rarely chances to counter. He is a wonderful playmaker, but Bayern not operating with one. He could damage opponents on the wings when playing for Dortmund, cos they were not treated as European elite and had more space. Götze can get past a defender, but dribbling is not one of his strengths and he is also not very explosive. That means he is not suited to play on the wings for Bayern (pacy dribblers) and he was mostly used as S or SS in or near the box and he played great there until his injury. Lewandowski and Müller like to play there also though.

I really hope that he ll stay at Bayern, but there r some very good reasons, that Götze could move to another club next season. I hated it, when Bayern played hard with Kroos penny pinching for 2-3m, but selling him for laughable 25-30m cos just 1 year contract and now still in need of another competent midfielder. Götze again also 1 year and when these idiots decide to sell, then again for a laughable sum.

Thats indeed a shame, but the prospect of seeing Schweini-Kroos-Khedira makes up for it. Hummels is slow too, but he is great.

I think he can be decent CB in the right setup actually. He's got a great sense of positioning, solid tackling and is obviously pretty good in the air.

But play him in such a high line as Arsenal does, and bad things are gonna happen.

I do agree that its suicidal of madrid to have him and modric as their CMs/DMs especially that there is also Ronaldo and James/Isco who offer absolutely nothing in recovering the ball.

Kroos is not a defensive CM thats not one of his qualities and he needs a destroyer to protect him but compared to James he is the new cannavaro in defensive work.

Offensively James had a great WC and has been on and off since then. Kroos has been very good for a long time now and zidane seems to be in love with him. He was excellent for the treble winning Bayern and he was their CAM back then.
