So no Pjanic because we need installments, no Andre Gomes because he costs too much, that Armenian guy may have EPL suiters (which makes sense), James is probably out of reach, and Isco will stay at Madrid. Who does that leave? Well, I guess Saponara. So I would wager we sign him or basically nobody for the role, which isn't surprising because this happens every summer.

Keeping Morata for one more season, signing Mascherano and Alves, Berardi and a few depth signings and we've had a great mercato imo

Its funny, so many EPL, Bundesliga, La Liga teams have an abundance of AMs and keep adding more while we basically have none (Pereyra hardly ever used and hardly up to the role to be relied upon consistently). Every time we get linked to one, an EPL team takes them.

Why is it so hard? This would be the 3rd year in a row where we cannot get one if that is the case.

Keeping Morata for one more season
That's just silly, what good will he be for one more season? Might as well sell him now and replace him instead of delaying the inevitable.

Moratta considers Serie A players first and foremost. He doesn't want to take a chance on other AM's outside of Italy unless they are close to world class. But if he can't sign world class players, what's the point?

I think its also about priorities. Not many teams in Europe play a 352 especially as well as we can given 4 world class wing backs and perhaps the world's best back 3 with good CMs. So, getting an AM is considered as giving us "options" to revert to a back 4. This is why I think whichever AM we choose has to be capable of another role in the 352 as well. Pjanic can play in the middle for instance. Gotze can play as a support striker as well.

Most other teams play with a back 4 and start with at least 1 or 2 attacking mids in their starting line-up. Few actually play with a front 2 either.

Does 352 give us a tactical advantage over teams using other formations?
Maybe, maybe not. I guess it would depend on the adversary. Clearly, having the ability to switch to a back 4 is a positive. I personally would like to see Allegri try the 433 a bit more with Dybala and someone else behind the centre forward.

But I guess, Allegri, correctly, decides the formation based on the players rather than the other way around. If our best players suit the 352 then that is what he plays.

Morata + 25M + 15M Bonuses for James could work. If all prices were equal, would you rather have Gomes, Pjanic or James?
Pjanic. Great player, safe choice - would fit in seamlessly.

Frustrating isn't it? And it has been for half a decade straight?

James, Pjanic, Gomes in that order. James is world class. He could become a Juventus legend. Pjanic is great too but is more of a cm than cam. Gomes? nah - we're trying to win now, not in 5 years.

EPL teams buy too many CAMs and not enough CDMs. This why the EPL is crap relative to its financial clout. Most of our teams are quasi-insolvent and I'd still take Sassuolo over Southampton.

One more season of having a lethal big game player on a low salary (we already saw how much of an extra push he can give us in tough times) and 5 mill more in profits from Madrid. Whats not to like? Would you have wanted Tevez to leave one year earlier than he did just because it was inevitable?

It's just last summer we wanted to sign AM. Before we wanted to sign winger.
But i get your point, it's like juventus do not get player that fit our need for 3rd in a row.
