So far he looks like a flop. Tries to do complicated things, fails miserably, gets all wind-up, rinse repeat. Need some calma in his game.

It'll take a while to get the mentality that you just try harder and run harder to sort things out of his mind, but at least he's doing those things. Would be nice if we could find some balance, which is often more important than just having three stars in midfield.

Just not quick enough to turn and run with the ball once he gets those passes between the lines. Same thing with Bentancur although Bentancur is a touch quicker. If you compare them with Ramsey, you can see the obvious difference. Ramsey will take only one touch to settle the ball and already he's turning, 100% knows where the opponent is and where his teammates are.

B2B is more of a position where the play is not always in front of you. Your head has to be constantly turning, your body agile enough to be constantly turning.

If you play as a #6 like Khedira's old Madrid/Germany position, the play is always in front of you. Even more if you are playing as a pure DM/regista. There he can use his strengths better. Like for example when he won every header vs. Zapata. And I find that he's able to dribble the other team's forwards who are obviously weak defensively. That's a bonus for a DM. It's just that he can't consistently dribble the opponent's midfield and defence who are obviously stronger defensively.

Liverpool let him go without hesitation and he wasn't a starter there. Wasn' t even first off the bench when their starting midfield was Wijnaldum - Henderson and Chamberlain. For Germany he was never even considered a midfielder with Low often deploying him as a RB whenever he was selected for his nation. Ultimately, it's not shocking to see that he's quite a limited player overall, although he can definitely improve here and contribute to success. However, he should never really be a starter for a club with CL aspirations..

He's fine. He had good and bad moments. On Saturday he was really good moving without the ball, passing, being in the right positions overall. He tried to do too much and took too much time on the ball sometimes.

He's super strong and can actually carry the ball forward. Stumbles into traffic against a team like Bologna, but that will be super valuable against Barcelona for example when he has more space.

Glad we have him.

8th most minutes despite being injured for 11 of the last 12 games. Also started 30 games of the 34 games he played.

All in all, a riveting tale.

Liverpool had plenty of injuries last season. When everyone was fit, he wasn't first name off the bench.
Henderson missed 7 games last season through injury
Oxlade-Chamberlain missed 5 games (same time as Can was injured)
Wijnaldum missed 0 games
Milner missed 0 games
Grujic missed 0 games
Lallana missed 32 games, although he's not a CM player

So basically Can with his 11 games was the most injured CM for Liverpool last season, yet he was apparently only starting because other players were injured. So Can has done quite well there considering he wasn't even first name off the bench (probably because he was in the starting XI most weeks).

I think what you should say is that generally Liverpool were fairly light last season with midfield numbers and quality, and then they went and spent €100m+ on two CM players.

Liverpool did everything they could to keep him till the last moment. And what Jay said.

Also reading about Ramsey how, apparently, Arsenal is also letting Ramsey go without hesitation lol. Also not true.

Can was better at the start of the season, give it some time. Not everyone does a Spinazzola after a long layoff. He still made a few poor decisions and was slow then, those will always be part of his characteristics & he'll never be a top player, but give it some time, easy with the pitchforks. He's decent all in all.
