Emerson Tug Of War Reaches New Intensity

Roma general manager Franco Baldini warned Juventus that because of their failure to respond to his requests regarding the Emerson deal within 24 hours, he will now play hard ball with them as promised.
“In yesterday’s meeting I had warned Moggi and Giraudo that if I didn’t get an answer within 24 hours, I would have closed doors to all negotiations over the Emerson deal, this answer didn’t arrive,” said Baldini
“If they want the Brazilian they now will have to give us 18 million Euros, or hand us around 15 plus the full ownership of Blasi. These are our requests, if Moggi and Giraudo want to satisfy them fine, if not Emerson won’t join the Bianconeri,” he added.
Baldini made it clear that the failure of the deal with Juventus, doesn’t mean Emerson has to stay at Roma for another year.
“We have already reached a deal with Real Madrid and Inter, if the player accepts, we can immediately close the deal,” he said.
But Emerson doesn’t want to go to these clubs, as he allegedly signed a contract with the Turin based club worth 4,5 million Euros a season. If this turns out to be true, Juve could be prosecuted as players aren’t allowed to sign contracts with other teams until their current one expires.
Emerson is bound to Roma until June 2005.
To make the situation even more complex, it appears that in the contract signed with the Bianconeri the Brazil international has to pay a fine of 5 million Euros to Juventus if his deal doesn’t go through.
Yes, the situation is a big mess, and it surely has many chapters left to be written.
This is getting ugly... i dont think we'll get Emo !
