John, you're not the only one.

I didn't realize that CM was such a priority, I could've sworn we had someone to play that role.

Oh yeah, we did. Edgar Davids.

Foolish pride is going to cost Juve 12-15 million euros and possibly Enzo Maresca as well. There sure is nothing like a reactive franchise as opposed to a pro-active franchise. I'm not an expert, but I'm pretty sure that I'd rather see that 12-15 million spent on a couple of good young defenders, and give Blasi or Brighi the opportunity to play CM.
Blasi is not even as good as Tacchinardi, and you expect him to fulfill the Davids' role? I think it would be rather stupid to have TWO Tacchinardi type players in central midfield. Neither can pass well or lead an attack, so our midfield would be just as useless as it is now.

I still don't understand why you would not want Emerson in the team. I know he does cost a lot, but it is not as much as you think. Emerson is a world class player, who in my terms is a creative midfield destroyer. This type of player, in the same class as Davids, can lead attacks, pass extremely well, play well around the box, and simply destroy the opposition's attack. There has been no player in the team who could perform all these jobs since Davids left. Yes, Appiah could very well be as good as Davids defensively, but he certainly has not showed much in terms of attacking capability. Same with Blasi and Brighi, except for the fact they are not even as talented as Appiah in the defensive duties. So IMO, Emerson would be a fantastic player to have in the team, even if he only has two or three good years left in him.

Is Emerson similar to Davids?
Yes, sort of similar. Davids was really a strong tackler in midfield, and he had a creative presence that could only be matched by Zidane or Nedved, and Del Piero. Davids was of course a spectacular dribbler in the center of the park, and his forward runs were very dangerous.

Emerson is very much alike. He is a ferocious tackler who sometimes doesn't even care what happens to his own body, or his competitor's for that matter. Emerson is also a very creative player, who could add some Brazilano magic to the team. Emerson is just as good of a dribbler as Davids, but I think the Brazilian is a better and more creative passer. Also, I think Emerson is more of a leader than Davids on the pitch, who has a very commanding presence in the midfield. His leadership skills also come from his time as Captain of the Brazilian NT. So basically I think Davids and Emerson are pretty much equal; or in other words, they are both so good you can't really compare them.

does anyone think that we extend davis's contract instead of spending another sum of money on emerson?
the main problem is our relation with Davids already broken. and Emerson is younger than Davids. I love Davids, but I won't miss him anymore , especially if he sign for Inter because it show how greedy he is.
think about this, Barcelona give him chance to prove himself, and he choose another team.

Emerson close to Juve Monday 24 May, 2004

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Roma star Emerson could be just days away from completing a move to Italian rivals Juventus.

It is understood that the player has already agreed terms with the Old Lady but the two clubs have failed to reach a deal so far.

The 28-year-old has reportedly turned down a move to Real Madrid after the Turin giants offered him a four-year contract worth £2.8m a season .

Roma would prefer to sell the Brazilian to a foreign club but he seems to have his heart set on a move to the Delle Alpi.

Some reports in Italy today claim that the Giallorossi are now willing to do business even if the relationship between the two clubs is not the best.

Whispers claim that the capital side will net close to £9m for the former Bayer Leverkusen ace.

Even if there is the possibility that Juve could offer them a lower fee plus a player – either Enzo Maresca or Brescia’s Francelino Matuzalem who they are close to signing.

Roma have to sell Emerson given the fact that he will be available on a free transfer next summer.

They reportedly turned down a £27m offer from Chelsea before the start of this season but interest from the Premiership club now seems to have cooled.

Meanwhile, Monaco Coach Didier Deschamps is expected to be named as the new Juventus boss on Friday.

this is good news... new coach on friday... and we will only sign emerson for like 12 million euros.. haha this is nice, chealse did offer 27 m PUNDS.. omg.. haha.. and the best news is, that juve MAY use matuzalem in this transfer and let Maresca stay.. ohh god plzz let it be like this..

I disagree, we should have bought them both, because Mexes is incredibly cheap, I mean 4m, that's just ridicilous!!

btw, take a look at Auxerre, they're full of young talents: Cisse, Kapo, Mexes, Boumsong, Tainio... The list goes on...
