The runs he makes and positions he takes are really odd, like he doesn't understand the shape of the team or attacking phases. You can put that down to him coming on with many subs, or perhaps because he has played few games, but you'd expect this to be basic stuff learnt in training.

When he was playing off the shoulder that was fair enough, it's a generic position and the game was over. Shame for him he couldn't quite score.
indeed, was painfully obvious in the Genoa match as well.

It actually points out what a horrible mistake it was to get him actually.

i dont think that was the intention, i think before Conte realised the strength of his midfield it was his intention to stick with the attacking 4-4-2 system which is why we bought elia, obviously since Conte discovered that Juve had to play Vidal, Pirlo and Marchisio together forced him to scrap the 4-4-2 idea and thus elia suffered since he is a very 1 dimensional player unlike Giaccherini and Pepe who can play different roles

Realize this, folks...

Conte -- who is a shoo-in for coach of the year in Italy if not also Europe for that matter -- has applied his wisdom of the game and made Giaccherini the hero while Elia sat. Who would have thunk?

Hopefully he will convince Conte not to think of Giovinco and consequently Marotta to get rid of the Milanista midget once and for all.

That alone says all there is to say about Conte's philosophy.
