True enough...but what if you were an athlete with ambition and you were frozen out like that? Gio bitched...a lot. Even when he's playing.................................

For Parma :seven:
Giovinco never bitched while he was with us. It was always a discussions among fans why he never spoke up for himself.

Players cant win with some, they ask for more playing time or ask to leave = ungrateful whiny bitches. Stay silent = Unambitious loafer who is on holiday.

Its the same I read in same page in transfer thread a player being criticised for being an unloyal mercenary for wanting to to go better club, while another one (think it was Jovetic) was called a idiotic loser for wanting to stay at a club that shown faith in him instead of go for the bigger move.

What has Elia done to warrant being a winner with some? Pretty much every player on the team bar Krasic understands what is expected of them by the coach, yet there is always love for him based on past performances and Elia gets a free pass? He has done nothing to prove that he was worth the money spent, so why do people kick up a fuss when someone questions his efforts.

I'm not saying it was his fault he ended up here, why would he turn down an offer from a top European team, and here the fault lies with Marotta I think it's fair to say.

It's obvious that Conte's style of football doesn't suit the lad, but shouldn't a professional footballer be able to adapt to new situations and tactics? When Vidal was asked to play as a defender he conformed and excelled, the same could be said for Pepe playing at full-back (only with a lesser degree of success).

I'm not hating on the guy, I was just saying it must be nice to be paid I don't know how many thousands every week to just train, tweet and post pics on instagram.

I was very much against signing Elia, as several others were, but I dont see the reason of bothering to be negative about someone who simply does NOT play at all, and I disagree with your assertions about his character, we dont know him and shouldnt project traits on him, he might be working as hard as he can but it isnt simply enough (he was bought for system system we dont play anymore, besides the part of being good enough or not, and clearly he isnt, atleast for Conte). Doesnt mean he is somehow unambitious and not driven enough as you put it. Mistake was signing him, him not kicking up of a fuss and being a bitch about lack of time play publically is a major plus, not something to hold against him.

And well duh, being a top professional in top football is a huge privelige and luxury, regardless of he is playing or not, he is more then well off. But needless to say I very much doubt he thinks his sitaution is nice...He could be in lesser club and less pay, but still well off and playing regurarly, and retaining his NT spot. But instead he is now forgotten in his country and will miss the coming euro schampionship.

Was about to say the same.

Props to Elia. Never rated him as a player and didn't want him here but he did earn some respect from me this season.

It definitely stands to his character that he isn't complaining to the press about a lack of match time, I'll give him that. I could be wrong here, but wasn't he being left on the bench at Hamburg too due to his poor work rate?

It'll be interesting to see post-season, if he's sold, what is said about his time here. Whether that be from our management or from him. It's such an odd occurrence for a player to go nearly a whole season without a full match under their belt

would be amazing to think we paid 9million for a player and he didn't get to play one FULL match all season while being match fit for 99% of it.

This kid is insanly talented, ive been following him since he was a player of Ado Den Haag, shame it never comes out. Was hoping Conte gave him at least some more playing time but i guess never change a winning team.

Really like million other people rich or poor post on twitter and when a player from our team (in this case Elia) he get's slammed for it?
He stays after training and trains for himself to get better and fit Conte's tactics, but he does not get the chance and maybe rightfully so, what more do people want from him?

@JFG He was on the bench cause of a row with the coach. I can tell you the whole story but you see i'm Dutch so i get the biased label on me the moment i talk or defend Elia :D

Maybe Conte's a racist? :shifty:
Hows that work out?? Didn't conte request this player!!? And was extremely happy when we purchased him. Maybe eljero isn't quite cutting the mustard shall we say..... Needs to pull his socks up. Nah you're right. It's cos he's black and that's the answer everything these days.

No amount of hard work justifies starting Borriello/Estigarribia over Elia.
