Cavani: 'Verratti my best teammate’
By Football Italia staff

Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani says Marco Verratti is “the best teammate I’ve ever had”.

The Italian international joined the French club from Pescara in 2012, and has since gone on to become one of the most highly-rated midfielders in Europe.

“Verratti? He’s phenomenal and he could play for any team in Europe,” Cavan told Marca.

He is the best teammate I've ever had, not only because of how he plays on the pitch, but also because of how he behaves away from the pitch.

“He is a good person, very optimistic and he plays with class.

"If he continues to work like this, he will become as one of the best players [in the world], so it's an honour to play with him.”

Cavani has been linked with a move to Juventus, but was coy on his future.

“There have always been rumours about me moving and it's good because that means that I am a coveted player, but it's also bad because some might say that I'm not happy anywhere, which isn't true.

“I can only say that I still have a two-year contract with PSG and I want to respect that.

“Many things could happen and most of them are not under my control, it will all depend on how I finish the season and the kind of decisions PSG make this summer.”

I wouldn't give any money, to tell you the truth. I don't value a striker who will be 30 at the end of next season at 50-55 million like a lot of people are claiming.

And this isn't just about talent either with Pogba and PSG. The best french player in the world, playing for the best french team, in the heart of Paris? Talk about expanding your brand. It goes beyond the money in that case. No one will say PSG and think "Verratti" or "Cavani"

But you put Pogba in there? Whole different story. He would be at, or nearly the same level of recognition as Messi is to Barca, or CR7 is to Real.

I agree with you about the branding. We could also have something similar with Verratti on our books. The swap seems to make a whole lot of sense to both parties and because they are both CMs it seems all the more likely to happen. Of course Pogba has the more marketable image of the two so I guess we could cover the difference with Edi :boh:

Would definitely be fine with 30m + Pogba for those two.

And Serge why don't you think Paul has the same level of recognition with us as he could with Paris?
Because I think a lot has to be said with the financial backing that PSG has, and for one reason or another, are a more well known product than Juve are.

Plus, one can't discount what a french player playing for the best french team would mean in tying everything together in the perfect marketing package.

Think about it this way. When one mentions Juve, it is usually always Del Piero or Gigi. That's not disrespectful to others, but Italian team= Italian Icons
