When we truly start playing attacking football, he will miss more.

But I still like him, I think it's all about the wage. If he earns 5 million less there will be 5 million less haters.

I don't think it's a mentality issue, it's quality. His finishing is just not elite enough. If Trezeguet and CR7 are 10, Higuain is 9, he is 7 (Gatti 6.9).

Ok I hate him.

it’s baffling

how do you score that chip that was disallowed and then scuff a much clearer chance like that later on

Was CR7's finishing that good though?

no u people would hate on him even if he was higuain or ronaldo good. same way u hated on higuain and ronaldo because higgy "choked" when it CL and ronaldo didn't track back to defend.

let's face it this club hates attacking players

Didn’t Jj fans hate on Higuain from the moment Beppe flexed on the league and plucked him from Naples?

Tevez too iirc

His salary is obviously a major issue. For that reason alone I think his time here is limited.

But talent wise, I'm struggling to think of realistic alternatives? The modern day ST needs a fuck ton of chances to score. I've seen plenty of Gyokeres, David, and Sesko - and I'm not convinced any of them are better options than Vlahovic.

Ok but that miss was inexcusable for a striker of that price tag I'm sorry.

This isn't his first brainfart in front of goal.

Football isn't FIFA. Strikers usually miss plenty of chances. And you're proving my point-- he scored three great goals inc the two offside but missed one and everybody is making a huge noise about the one, when it didn't affect the outcome whatsoever

OBVIOUSLY I want him to score that 1v1, but making such a huge deal out of this miss in this context lays bare who the straight Dusan haters are.

That first goal by Marmoush's teammate is what Vlahovic think he want to create against Cagliari when he try to beat the keeper

With his technicality he will be in the same wavelength with Nico G, Conceicao and Yildiz. Thus, improving the gameplay and our options to breakdown opponent

Vlahovic is a monster and extending his contract should be our highest priority. He's 24 and only getting better. He can continue to play his best football for another 5 or 6 years. We should sell him at 29, not at 25.

Apart from Ronaldo he is the best striker we've had since Tevez. Higuain was subpar apart from his first season.

Gotta be kidding me.

Higuain was a complete footballer, Vlahovic is a donkey compared to him.

that's a good point and it is absolutely true. strikers will always miss chances.

the difference is the conversion rate and shooting frequency. last time i checked vlahovic had a conversion rate of below 20% (~17% iirc). for comparison, last season haaland had a conversion rate of ~50% (this season he's closer to 20% too though). even isak was well above 40%.

watch this and try not to pull a guardiola on yourself:

this is the only deal breaker with vlahovic:
https://www.kickest.it/it/serie-a/statistiche/giocatori/big-chance-fallite - 10 big chances missed
https://www.kickest.it/it/serie-a/statistiche/giocatori/big-chance-fallite/2023-2024 - 17 (!!!)
https://www.kickest.it/it/serie-a/statistiche/giocatori/big-chance-fallite/2022-2023 - 9

that's 36 in the last 3 seasons (and counting), only considering league matches, in a team that has not had a shitload of chances. i don't mind him not scoring screamers on a weekly basis, i really don't expect anyone to do that. but when you face the goalie only and/or an open goal, you have to bury those with a higher efficiency.

I think David would fit better in the system. He's better dropping back and helping set up the play. With very few crosses into the box we don't need a target man. And Dusan is very much a target man. David also has better pace to run deep, while Dusan is often offside or not fast enough to beat the defenders. So yeah I think other profiles would suit the system better. I like Dusan but I totally understand why Giuntoli would look to sell him and replace with Zirkzee and David

Higuain was twice the striker Vlahovic is and (I think) ever will be, and I hate Higuain.

Tevez for us was even better than Ronaldo for me personally, he added more to the team.

He was complete in his first season, half decent in the second and a complete turd in his final season with us.

Numbers would hardly back up your statement

Higuain: 149 Games, 66 goals -> 0.44 Goals per match

Vlahovic: 121 games, 53 goals -> 0.43 goals per match

Also, Higuain played in a title winning squad whereas Vlahovic is not.
