Thing about Costa is that he doesn't have 90 minutes in him and he's best when called up to torment tired defenders.
Tho he did start at Bernabeu last year and did well.
Sure Costa is better at playing against tired defenders as is any pacey attacker but that is not the important question. The important question is the overall team better with him on the pitch from the start. I would say yes.

How about we dont play with long balls. Most of long balls actually go to waste and we create shit. Did you see Arsenal’s first goal vs Napoli? We have all what it takes to play horizontal balls and score goals.
Its extremely effective and makes sure they cant fully press or players will stay behind their press to play off too.

Napoli didnt press like ajax. You are also comparing the home team with the away team. And comparing arsenal with juventus

Please remind me how the league position is for arsenal, napoli and juventus ?

Although playing vertical passes is indeed significantly harder than playing long balls, if you master it, your ceiling is a lot higher than the ceiling of a long ball team.
Yeah but requires the players. Did you see how poor Pjanic was ?

On those days, i think back to Pirlo in his first two seasons at juventus.

If we can squeeze out more than 50 million, then it would be a tremendous deal cause he's not getting any younger.

On the other hand, I'd hate to sell him cause he's a beast when he's in form. Not many players possess the speed and dribbling as Costa so it would be hard to find a decent replacement.

Chiesa looks good but I'm not quite sure about his overall potential. He's a type of player that Allegri would prefer:

- Works hard and has lots of stamina.
- Tracks back and he's all over the field.
- Looks comfortable on ball and not afraid to take on players.

The bitter Germans do im sure
1 good appearance off the bench since August and you are fapping way too hard over this guy. He’s had the most disappointing season a player could possibly have after the 2nd half of last year when he was on fire. Between spitting in someone and getting suspended, being horribly out of form ever since when fit, multiple injuries, wrecking someone’s car... dude has had a nightmare season.

If he can stay fit and plays to his potential the rest of the year, that’s fantastic, but until he does, hardly reason to gloat about him.

he still features on a recent training pic though :boh:

That’s ominous. Dybala then Bentancur then a big red X before Costa :scared:

What has changed?

Over the course of 2 seasons he had like 270 good minutes and 75% against Bologna, SPAL, Carpi lmao

We need to dump him to raise funds for a position we actually need
You are wrong. Costa's primary value is not against crap serie a sides but what we saw last game against ajax.

Ajax and other european competition press the hell out of us and we were giving the ball away constantly. When pjanic is marked into ineffectiveness like that we really look limp and the presence of bonucci and cancelo was not helping to relieve that pressure via building out the back as we might hope.

When costa came on ajax had to back off and it took a tremendous amount of pressure off. Costa (and to a lesser extent berna) are the only players we have who can do that.

Maybe cancelo too but he is deeper positoon and in atrocious form.

Not disagreeing about his horrible season but he quite clearly offers something we dont have from anybody else in recent years abd i would like to keep him.

I am not gloating just letting Lgor know how wrong he is as usual

Last 15 minutes on the left side were great. In first 15 minutes on the right he was totally lost. But tbh this is a bit understandable after such a long break.
It's not a conundrum, this guy is better on the left then the right. His attack mode is more straight forward on left, bet your man wide with pace and cross or shoot low. On right side he drifts centrally alot and gets lost in over dribbling in crowded areas, and doesnt shoot that great enough on those areas to validate his cutting in action all the time (and since he doesnt cross with his right, he becomes predictable in needing to cut in with left to cross)..

Hes someone who is more deadly when he keeps his options simple. Virtually unstoppable 1 on 1 and left showcases that more.

Costa is out best dribbler, he has the best pass in the team (much better than Pjanic in fact) and is not afraid to get past the defenders. Selling him would be a big mistake.
