Agent: Criscito stays in Jan Thursday 13 December, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Juventus stopper Domenico Criscito isn’t on his way to Fiorentina, according to agent Sandro Gedda.

The 20-year-old defender excelled in Serie B for Genoa and is regarded as a huge prospect, but he has struggled to find space in the Old Lady line-up.

There have been rumours that Fiorentina were ready to swoop in January after experiencing a recent defensive injury crisis, but Gedda denies this talk.

“Honestly, I haven’t ever had any contact with Fiorentina for Criscito,” he told Viola Gol

“There is no news and I think that Juventus will want to keep hold of him as he is a quality player with a big future.

“He will certainly stay in January and there is an agreement in place for June that Genoa get first refusal if he is sent out on loan.”

it would be a huge disappointment if he would be even sent on loan let alone sold. We are building a team for the future here and its not a good idea to throw out your youngesters so soon.

I know he didn't perform to the world class expectations that everyone here had, but be reasonable in thinking about it.

Hes a 20yr old who didn't play serie A before and simply he was thrown in the deep end from the beginning instead of easing him in. Not all the players are nestas and canavaros that will shine since their first season.

I see a future in him because he is intelligent and some of his challenges, covering and positioning is very good for a kid his age. Lets keep him and he will get his chances to improve and prove himself for the future.

I want to see him get tougher and meaner and then we will talk about starting position. You don´t give a starting position to some inexperienced kid in a team which fights for trophies just like that. He will maybe be ready in 2 years. And I don´t particulary have anything agaisnt loaning him to solid Serie A club for 6 months. It can do him good.

:agree:

That would be the best thing to do with him right now. I think we did our part by securing him as our player but we really need to loan him out and get him up to par with most defenders. He has the skill now he just needs the muscle and the attitude of a good defender to follow. I hope that we loan him out in January.

especially to genoa where he stood out and he can gain a starting spot and some confidence. they better send him with a specific diet though. give him what ronaldo eats, except half the servings.

i think loaning him out would be the best option . it would help him. he needs to hit the gym and bulk up too. i would like to see him play as a left back and see how he goes. if we were to loan him out i would like to do it with palermo. maybe barzagli swap.

The Roma game definitely deteriorates Criscito's confidence, seeing how Totti made a fool out of him

Start him against Siena, this will perhaps boost his confidence

Not directly reflecting on your post, but whatever reasons people are giving for sending Criscito on loan, the Roma game should not be one of them. Totti has made a fool out of many experienced defenders, he's a world class #10 and is expected to do so.

Good idea - for the time being. He needs some playing time. With Chiellini beside him, Zanetti as a DM and Neddy/DP in front, would mean that Mimmo would be surrounded with experienced players, who would help him.

i like ur thinking, but it all comes down to criscito himself.. if he has a breakthrough performance it might start a run of form & then everyone on this forum will be all hail the new cannavaro
