Marotta agreed to that price though (apparently) a year ago, which means he thinks its not too much. he already planned it in this summer mercato and it should not affect other transfers. would be quite amateurish to agree one price and then say its too high for you to pay. Marotta knows whats he doing

He agreed that we have the right to purchase him at this price and not that we will definitely purchase him for that amount. This clause was made in our favor in case Berardi's price goes sky high so that Sassuolo is ready to offer more than 15mil for his half. It was not a promise to Sassuolo that we will definitely purchase him nor that we will not try to negotiate the price down in case we want to buy him.
