A design for making choices does not take away from the fact that different choices existed to begin with.
It doesn't. But an all-knowing god who knows what you're gonna choose does take it away. If there is true free will, then he won't know what we'll choose.

No really, free will - as it's defined - doesn't exist.
How is it defined?

God is omnipotent not us, in theory the issue is one of definition of a term as free will being free from design, but is it to be free from supernatural design? Can we logically dictate the behaviour of a being that obeys no laws of anything?
