I recall having a long chat with an atheist on an international flight a few years back.

He was quite an intelligent man and had many intriguing arguments to support his views.

A few hours into the flight, there was some heavy turbulence and the plane would actually go into momentary free-fall every now and then. It lasted for a good half hour.

I lost count the number of times this man would clutch at his seat and cry "Oh my God!"

I'm an atheist and I sometimes mention God in a similar context, not because I believe in him/it, but because thats a linguistic expression. Due to reliugion, language has developed in such a way that certain things can only be adequately stated by ceirtain phrases, which involve God. Doesnt mean I believe in him, just that I am using a linguistic phrase that most accurately describes a given situation.

Yeah, and I say "Jesus f***ing Christ!" (no offence intended) whenever Bonucci does a failed leg backsweep thing. So?

He's not an atheist then? He really believes in God but is just a faker?
Who knows what his heart really believes. He wasn't cursing, rather saying it out of fear of dying.

Nonetheless, it was very fascinating the way he reacted.
