I already answered this question. Go to the previous page.
That doesn't really explain why atheists have to randomly bring up how awful religion is and how God doesn't exist.

All theists are not the same. You don't see me going: "hey really sunny outside isn't? By the way have you accepted Islam?" but atheists such as yourself find the most inopportune time to remind everyone how wonderful their conclusion on life & existence is.

question, why are atheists SO much more fixated on religion than theists, i mean everything is absurd no real consequences to your actions yadda yadda yadda go out and enjoy your illuminated selves, no?
Fundamentalist athiests are the worst. It's like we don't get enough dogma from the bible thumpers and scimitar swingers, we got to hear the audible farts of these chumps air their superiority and road to salvation to the rest of us. Worse: they don't even see what they do as proselytizing.

TBH, I just wanted to discuss this someone, and this seems to be the right place. At least there's a thread\sub-forum for religion. You don't expect me to walk up to my co-workers and say "hey there, do you believe in God? Well let me tell you how wrong you are". That would be REALLY inopportune. At least here, you have the freedom of choice. If you don't like to be proselytized, don't enter a thread like this.

Well since you're a mod it could be hard. But you get the idea. I'm not asking you to become an atheist. I just encourage doubt so that you can assess life without God for once.

You got me!
Scientology's about as logical as any other religion.

Well in this case it's quiet alright, it's in an appropriate thread but don't think I haven't noticed your little jabs here and there in the past few months :D

Agreed. Just as annoying their counterparts.

I think you are only seeing this from your side, Tahir. I cannot speak about Muslims but from my experience there are plenty of Christians who are willing to get up in your face about it and constantly bring up their religion and related subjects so why should I not bring up what my thoughts are?

I have no problem with people keeping their religion to themselves but my beef is with organized religious groups in this country who push for religious based laws (gay marriage, abortion etc.) to deny civil rights to people who don't share their beliefs. I guess my point is that generally I have not seen respect for differing opinions from religious people so why should I respect them?

I think that religious people need to be a little more understanding of why Atheists are bothered by religion, because to someone who was raised with no religious background, it's tough to have respect for people who preach and base their entire lives around abstract principles and moral teachings that seem straight up insane when looking from the outside-in.

Government will always be = State + Church . Know Dat son!

Although God is never clearly mentioned in the constitution or Bill of Rights, religion played a rule in the construction of these two set of laws.

Well yea I know that and that's why I'm pissed off. If religious people didn't have any power than they wouldn't be a problem, eh?

Of course god played a role in it, the men who were involved in drafting both documents were religious.

They won't grow beyond jabs in other threads. I'm not gonna become one of those guys. :p

Btw, did you even read my lengthy post? Actually, did anyone read it? :D
Yeah, parts of it. Then I saw Denebs post and got distracted :p

I understand there are those that get in your face about it, I've had run ins with those people myself. That's why I don't do it myself, but what some atheists do is to counter them by doing the very same thing! How does that make you any different? I don't understand the logic. They preach God/religion and you everything against it....how are you any different?

You know those bumper stickers? "Choose life"? Yeah, they annoy the fuck out of me. I don't know why people feel the need to paste their moral values on big fast moving objects. Annoys the hell out of me. I would never do that.
