usually the meaning is left to the interpretation of the reader, which itself is heavily dependent on the circumstances i.e. it don't mean $#@! apart from being a catchy phrase that makes religious people feel better about their $#@!ty everyday lives :)

On a related note, I saw a news headline somewhere that people suffering from depression have a tendency to have a more realistic outlook towards life. Which made me think: do people not suffering from depression have a fairy tale-ish outlook towards life?

EDIT: Apparently, it's termed as Depressive Realism.

Or does that tell you that the outlook that these depressed people have is part of their illness and hence the depression. They can't see beyond the inane and corporal
