Honestly, who gives a shit about truth?.
People delude themselves every day of every year of their life, everyone without exception. Truth is overrated. Just believe whatever you like as long as you don't impose it on anyone.

I still find it weird to believe in something because it is appealing rather than true.

But as you said, everyone is entitled to his opinion as long as he doesn't impose it on others.

It's funny when atheists want to convince religious peopleno god. At least religious people have a viable motive for this, they want to save you from doom. What about atheists, they just want to be right? lol. Talk about forcing your opinion on others. I find it very petty.
A doom that in no way can be verified to be true.

I don't want to convince them that there is no god. I just want to see how weak their beliefs are by scrutinizing it.

I like to believe I have a 12 inch cock, it's not true but it certainly makes me feel better about myself.
But you see, it is very easy to see that you have a really small dick and that what you believe in is wrong by just pulling down your pants. Proving whether God exists or not is much much more complicated broski. And the way i see this, there is not a single way in which you can prove whether God exists or not. We will all just have to wait and see. But let me tell you this, if God does not exist, the thats it, believer and non-believers will just die and parish, turn into dust and that will be the end of it. But, if by any chance God does exist, then guess which people will be the happy ones, and which people will feel like real donkeys.........So you see, believers have nothing to loose, the worst thing that can happen to them is to turn out that they have lived a life filled with lies and a belief in something that didnt exist, but that wont matter when they are dead, so who cares, while non-believers may come to regret ever being born if it turns out the other way around........

What you're describing is called Pascal's Wager. While it is ok to think like that, there is one major flaw: what if you're believing in the wrong god? Normally, if someone says "there is a god", people would be inclined to think that the god that THEY believe in exists. But they'll never think about the 1000 other gods that other people believe or believed in. What if the real god is the Flying Spaghetti Monster, who will banish believers of all other gods to hell?

What you're suggesting we do is to gamble on the possibility that there is a god. If so, then you need to gamble on every god that has ever been written about. Cos all of them can be true.

Oh course believers have something to lose. If you, as a believer, follow rules of a certain religion. Perhaps a situation will come along where the rules of your religion prohibit you from doing something you feel like, and you don't do it because you think there is some kingdom waiting for you after you finish this life - you are missing out. So if God isn't real, and we all just perish - the believer will certainly have lost something in the only existence he will ever experience.

Believers have nothing to lose, yeah right. Spending your whole life following a fantasy that is then exposed to you, it doesn't get a bigger loss than that.

Hoow does it get exposed? If there is no god you will never know.
Everything becomes explained. Not that religious people would ever agree with it, which is why I said months ago that religion will always survive in some form, it'll just evolve over the next several thousand years (assuming the human race survives) the same as it has over the last few thousand years. If you have an organised belief system people will follow it in large numbers. Some believe in ghosts, fairies, greys and elves. Faith is a strong natural human trait.

No I mean if there is no god and you die, you wont get dissapointed or exposed, because you will never know.

In this scenario if you lived believing and happy life whats the harm in that?
