The evidence is there in the fossil record. I doubt God planted it as some kind of prank. Honestly, I don't understand the mind of someone who can dismiss scientific evidance, but will take as absolutely the word of a few unfamiliar men who wrote a book a few centuries back. :)
I believe it's all in the (mis)interpretation of the Bible. For instance, I believe in God but I also believe that Adam and Eve probably didn't look an awful lot like us. They undoubtedly had a lot more hair and darker skin colour, for example.

The fact that I once nearly got slaughtered by my teachers on my Christian primary school for saying that is also exactly the reason that I banned the Church from my life.

BTW - I'm very happy to hear that I have my facts straight on the Northern Ireland issue! I had a couple of classes about that at highschool but that was years ago

I think I dont believe in God.
And what's I realised lately, I'm biased towards too religious people. It's not good thing.
But all blame for that goes to all that upbringing and hype about the church, faith, the pope etc.

One of the prophets descendants was once asked by an athiest."who was god?" He said " When you are alone at the sea and a storm comes, and you feel that you will drawn and die, who will you call for help???"
He said "God"
So he answered "this is God."

I'm really stunned by the number of people here who lost their faith or just neve believed in God!!
It's a modern trend Majed. Religion is in decline amoung the educated because the established religions tell us that we must believe, that we can't question, that they are right and there will be no debate. That runs contrary to what we're taught about everything else.

I don't think I've expressed my personal stance clearly in this thread, hinting instead at it as I press others to think. I beleive in a God, or possibly gods, but do not discount that there might not be one. I do not believe in any of the organised religions, though I was raised as a Roman Catholic, and still go through some of the motions.

If God was in a position where his decision determined that this theoretical toddler would fall to his/her death, then God would be responsible for murder. God would break a commandment. No, I'm certain that God merely set up the system, and left it to run.
As i said before, it's because of the presence of sin in this world that there's death and destruction. Watch said Simpsons episode for an illustration of pre-sin Eden.

Some pretty nasty stuff gets peddled to Muslims as the Will of Allah. Don't try to tell me that that's differant, because it's not.
AFAIC, it is different, because AFAIK Allah is different to the God I believe in.

Note the source of what you just quoted. Yes, you quoted the Bible to verify the bible's authenticity. I hope no one ever puts you in charge of a bank! ;)
I wasn't verifying its authenticity with that quote, i was saying that if the Bible is God's word at all, it's the best source of it, which is what u questioned ealier

My arguement is that you have assumed that Christianity is the only valid religion, and in doing so you assume that Hindi, Buddism, etc. are all totally wrong. There is nothing to support this except the word of the church, which is the same problem again.
What am I to do about that? Go and try all the other religions? It's not just the word of the church that leads me to my conclusion, i guess it's because it makes sense to me. The God I'd like to serve and I think I'm serving is pretty cool. I don't have to be perfect to go to heaven. I don't have to perform any rituals and I don't have to spend millions of years being reincarnated as a slug to eventually reach my final destination. Now i'm not here to rip on Hindus or Buddhists, but that's just my personal preference. Call it selfish and narrow-minded, but I'm quite happy where I am, and i need not dabble in this and that.

That's news to me. I guess it differs from place to place

By the way, let me elaborate a bit on something...The Bible is meant not to tell us HOW, but to tell us WHY.....

    ok...

    2. Causality. Where did you come from? etc, ect. If you carry that on long enough, you reach a point where there is nowhere further you can go....except for God-there is nothing else that is more reasonable.
search for the five proofs of God's existence-I can't remember them all......ther aren't actually proofs, but theories that "prove" God's exictence through reasoning(mainly inductive...)

man, the posts is too long, i cant read em all :stressed: yes i've been wondering too for those who don't believe in god, when you are in need of desperate help, who do you go to? I mean, surely at least you cry for someone? For me, personally, when I have a problem and I go to God for help, it's such a wonderful feeling.

Actually, to me life and the world is evidence that God doesnt exist

Also, the Little Prince is the most overrated book of all time.
Can you explain your point of view here? What do you mean by, that te fact, that there is life in this world made you sure, that there is no God? I can't understand it, sorry. For me the magic of life is a perfect sign, that there is God! So please let me know, your reasons!

And about the Little Prince: I didn't tell you, that it is a perfect book, or just that it is well. NO! I just told you the truth, which can be found in this book! ;)

What kind of tragedy, I would really like to know, if you dont mind talking about it.

If it's OK with you, Z. I'd rather not. It hits way too close to home.

And Gray, how do you know if God isn't a woman? If God made us into his/her own image, and it's no secret that women are the stronger sex, then it would make sense, no?

Anyway, THAT'S IT for me. No more posting on this thread. Good day. I have to go X-mas shopping again. (Biggest shopping day of the year, you know.)

I think you're talking about evidence as opposed to proof ;)
it is based on evidence, therefore it is a theory-couldn't think of the word ;) but most people I know call it a proof-but you are right-it's not a proof
