Mark, Hleb is simply nowhere near good enough to wear the black and white shirt.

Fred will know a lot more about him than me. However judging from his performances with Barcelona he shows little of the class we associate with his colleagues like Iniesta, Xavi, Messi and Henry.

I can see why Guardiola has made him, like Gudjohnsen, a bit part player who would be useful to bring on in the 77th minute of a match when the Catalans are leading by three or more goals and the match is already over.

The thought of Hleb at Turin is highly unpleasant.
My opinion about Hleb is that he has the talent to play anywhere. when on form he is absolutely devestating. His biggest drawback is his inconsistency though. He would be a risky investment, but one that if managed correctly would pay its divedends.

He was there to watch Heskey and Jagielka, according to my sources.

Secco watches Silva

Thursday 12 February, 2009
Juventus director of sport Alessio Secco was in Seville last night to watch Valencia winger David Silva with a view to bidding for his services this summer.

Silva, who came on as a second half substitute as Spain beat England 2-0, is being lined up to succeed Pavel Nedved who recently turned 36 and is considering retirement.

Juventus had looked to Werder Bremen's Diego as a replacement for the aging Nedved, but the German outfit are determined to keep hold of the talented Brazilian.

Negotiations for Silva are expected to be much smoother as Valencia are in some financial difficulty and need to sell players.

Silva is only just 23 and was part of the Spain side that won Euro 2008 last summer. He has made eight appearances for Valencia this season and scored two goals

I vote for Silva. First of all i think he is the least hyped from the 3, although there is already quite a lot of buzz around him. Ribery is just too expensive. He would be the best option player-wise, but he just doesn't fit into our budget.
As for Diego, he is a superb player, but i think there is a lot of competition around him and i don't like how he's hyped up by the media. everyone who follows the bundesliga knows he hasn't been anywhere near world-class form in his games lately, and he has been more in the headlines because of drunk driving and strangling players. That said, i think every single one of those players would be a great addition to our squad, but if i could choose, i'd opt for silva; he should be the cheapest also, because i think he should be available for 20m or even a little bit less.

Silva would be less of a risk then Diego, and quality are more or less the same with them, except Silva being more versatile to say the least. But I havent really thought of Silva because really, I dont see him as realistic signing. I hope love it if Secco could suprise us, but I mean, if Silva is on the market, you will have Barca, Real, Chelsea and such all seriously gunning for him BIG TIME.

Its likely he will leave despite how hard they are trying to conceal their big financial troubles, but sadly, Silva will be too sought after.

ah for fuck sake people , as soon as there is a quality player linked with us you all go immediately saying oh barca , real or chelsea will be after him too we don't have a chance , why discuss about this players then when we are not getting them. and how can you be so sure that the clubs mentioned or any other that is so much richer then we are are even interested in the same players.

Osman is right though. We can't compete with that clubs financially.
well if you are thinking that we can't pay 60 , 70mil. or more for a single player then i agree . But if lets say Ribery can be bought for 40 -45 mil. i don't see why we can't be competitive with other clubs. we have been spending 40-50 mil for the past two seasons and buying 5-6 players of which half of them are just average who bring nothing to them team except squad depth( which is good considering the problems we are having with injuries this season) , but IMO it's time to spend big and get 2 , 3 players which will greatly improve this team
