Then this is not objectively addressing the situation. You're lying to yourself in this. At no point did these guys say Diego would not be sold.

I've been saying this time and time again because people don't seem to get it and they are setting themselves up for disappointment. Clearly, if this was all media BS, then Marotta would confirm Diego isn't on the market.

Diego could very well stay with us, but if the right offer comes, he may be on his way.

If Marotta and DN have no intention of selling Diego, but think they can use the player as bait for Dzeko, meaning they all-of-a-sudden remove Diego from any sort of transfer Wolfsburg had in mind, then they should be fired immediately. There is no better way to piss off a club than to lie about using one of your own players in exchange FOR a player you are approaching to buy.

It's ridiculous, and clearly not logical. I have no idea why some think this is a possible explanation for all of this.

Might be the case. He hasn't really been given much of a chance by anybody, so it wouldn't surprise me.

But then again, he said he wants to stay as he wants to prove himself, so...

You're forgetting one thing.
It's the player who has the final word on the deal.
Diego may choose to stay with us, meaning Marotta can't be accused of lying. That's what I think is happening.

Well, that is the one saving grace in all this. I don't think Diego wants to be sold but perhaps his father is just hedging bets for his son.

I think it's quite clear that both parties have gone fishing to some extent.
