Marotta: 'Diego doesn't fit at Juve'
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Juventus are ready to sell Diego because “he does not fit into Gigi Del Neri’s 4-4-2,” confirmed director general Beppe Marotta.

There had been question marks over the Brazilian after a poor debut season in Serie A, especially as the trequartista has struggled to find his tactical place.

“There are offers for Diego,” Marotta told Tuttosport. “Del Neri’s tactical requirements have the priority and I don’t think the Brazilian fits into the 4-4-2.

“Faced with an impressive offer, I believe we could sell him. Watch out for some of the other names in the papers, as there could be a few surprises coming to Juve.

“However, Gianluigi Buffon and Alessandro Del Piero are not for sale. They are symbols of the club and essential reference points for the younger players.”

The Bianconeri must go through the preliminary round to reach the Europa League after only finishing in seventh place.

“When you are at Juventus, it is your duty to never settle,” insisted Marotta. “We will build a Scudetto-winning side, or at least will try to.

“I consider Inter to be a step above the rest, even without Jose Mourinho. They are the number one club in Europe and got there step by step, building the foundations over the years. It proved to be a winning formula.”

:sergio:

I'll await to see who arrives in his place, hopefully Aguero. In reality probably Del Piero will take his place :pumpkin:

Also Marotta coming out like he has, has just lowered Diego's value by stating he does not fit in with our new system and needs to be sold.

If anything, Del Piero would be good in a 4-4-2 again, with a player to link with him on the left wing.

I feel like we'd be making a huge mistake if we were to sell Diego.

If were relying on Del Piero again next season then were heading down the wrong path. Del Piero should be the super sub next season. No way he should be starting.

this is pathetic

diego was supposed to be the player to take us to the next level. He started off brilliantly, shame he was run under crap management, we seen what he is capable off. Pathetic! Back to square with relying on Del piero for the creativity.

First big mistake by Marotta..you don't say a player doesnt fit into the team that automatically means we probably won't use him and therefore don't need him meaning his price will be lowered..

Any system which means we rely on Del Piero is the wrong system, but a team which has a good number of individual talents able to create a team is right. I'd rather we started looking to replace him as well, but he wouldn't be bad at all IMO.

And what is that supposed to mean?

That managers only put del piero in our starting line up because of his name. Last year we started off brilliantly when he was injured and then we forced to change out full formation and placed him in our midfield against bourdeux. Since then we crumbled and we didnt recover. If anything I'd rather have giovinco starting over del piero

We were crumbling a long time before Del Piero was placed into our squad.

Did you agree with Capello dropping him?

Oh my god! Did this just happen? Marotta doesn't want Diego? Oh my, I really hope he has Aguero and Benzema/Dzeko lined up cause if they decide to use Iaquinta and Amauri as regulars I will puke.

And what the hell is wrong with Del Neri and his obsession with 4-4-2? Honestly, use 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 instead of selling players like Diego. Del Neri should accommodate himself to the team and not the other way around.

FI are getting it from Tuttosport, god knows whether to believe it or not. If he is going to go, Beppe has to make sure its someone of the same ilk, if they sell him and bring in someone like Pazzini, he'll get a good crack.
